Former Congress president and MP Rahul Gandhi’s political mentor Sam Pitroda has advocated for settling illegal intruders in India. Sam Pitroda has described the intruders as poor and hungry and said that the government is targeting them. Following his contentious remarks, the BJP has launched a major offensive on the Congress party over the issue of illegal immigration.

In fact, a video of Congress leader Sam Pitroda is going viral on social media. In this video, Pitroda can be heard saying, “Intruders work very hard to come here. Although illegal infiltration is wrong, the government is targeting illegal Bangladeshis and minorities. Even if we face a little trouble due to their coming here, it is okay. We should share the resources. But no one wants to share. They want to make their share even bigger.”

Criticising the Centre’s action on illegal intruders, Sam Pitroda said that instead of dealing with intrusion, the government should focus on issues like global warming which are important for the public.

After this statement of Sam Pitroda, BJP launched a scathing attack on the Congress party. Given the fact that Pitroda is considered the political guru of Rahul Gandhi, latter is also facing the heat for his guru’s contentious remarks.

BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari posted on Instagram, “This is insulting. Rahul Gandhi’s right hand Sam Pitroda’s statement about settling illegal intruders in India and saying that even if it is at the cost of the country, is shocking and irresponsible. Now you must be thinking how Congress has worked hard for the last 70 years to settle illegal people in our country.”

The issue of illegal immigration has been one of the core planks for the Bharatiya Janata Party since its inception. It has been particularly vocal against illegal immigration ahead of the ongoing Delhi assembly elections. Additionally, police and administrations of several BJP-ruled states have taken penal actions or arrested hosts of Bangladeshi illegals.

Several prominent BJP leaders including Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah have been raising this issue. Apart from this, discussions are also intensifying about driving illegal intruders out of the country. Not only this, BJP has also promised to expel illegal Bangladeshis and Rohingyas if it wins the Delhi elections.

Furthermore, BJP has been accusing the ruling party of Delhi, Aam Aadmi Party, of making Aadhar cards of Bangladeshi and Rohingya Muslims. In this election, a tough fight is being seen between BJP-AAP-Congress. Since voting is to be held in Delhi on February 5. In such a situation, this statement of Sam Pitroda is being considered as a self goal for Congress.
