India’s rising batting star, Rinku Singh is all set to tie marital knot with Samajwadi Party MP Priya Saroj, daughter of SP MLA from Kerakat, Tufani Saroj. While rumours were rife about their engagement, Rinku Singh’s family has confirmed that the young couple will be tying knots shortly. However, the family has ruled out reports that their engagement has already taken place.
Priya’s father Tufani Saroj confirmed the news about their marital alliance admitting that discussions about the marriage have indeed taken place. Both their families came to a mutual agreement in Aligarh on 16th January. However, speaking with news agency PTI, Tufani Saroj asserted, “No ring ceremony or pre-wedding program has been held so far.”
Tufani Saroj added that his daughter Priya met the ace Indian batter through one of her friends, whose father is also a cricketer.
He confirmed the news of marriage saying, “Rinku and Priya have known each other for more than a year now. They both liked each other but needed their families’ consent for the relationship. Both families have agreed to this marriage.”
Her father noted that the dates for their engagement and wedding will be finalised after the Parliament session. But the engagement will take place in Lucknow.
Even in his brief international stint, Rinku Singh has displayed his power hitting abilties, which he had consistently exhibited in the Indian Premier League, thus earning him the fame and spot in the National team. Priya Saroj hails from the Karkhiyaon village in Varanasi. She has been associated with the Samajwadi Party for a long time now. She is elected to the Lok Sabha from Machhlishahr constituency in the Jaunpur district in 2024. Earlier, she was in news headlines as a litigating attorney in Supreme Court. She came into controversy the first time in 2022 when Priya sought votes as her father stood for the UP-Assembly poll. Priya did her graduation in arts from Delhi University and obtained her law degree from Amity University, Noida.
In the meantime, Tufani Saroj confirmed that the marriage functions won’t hinder Rinku’s cricketing career.
