On the 12th of January came the interview of Yograj Singh, the father of cricketing legend Yuvraj Singh with Youtuber Samdish Bhatia on his channel ‘Unfiltered with Samdish’ which has ignited many controversies at once. During the 1 hour 9 minutes interview, Yograj Singh who happens to be former cricketer and contemporary actor threw many of the inconvenient talks that sparked outrage against him on the social media. The interview revealed his misogynist, rogue and xenophobic mindset in front of the general public.
During the interview, Yograj Singh described Hindi as a “woman’s language,” claiming it lacks energy and thus is not suitable for men. He elaborated, stating that while Hindi sounds pleasant when spoken by women, it does not evoke the same feeling when spoken by men.
I have nothing against Yograj Singh. But this man needs a psychiatrist. Iske logic bas isko hi samajh aate hain.
He has history of sucking upto Islamists. I am not surprised he is sucking upto Urdu now.

He remarked, “Mujhe to Hindi language aise lagti hai jaise koi aurat bol rahi ho. Jab aurat bolti hai to bahut acha lagta hai, jab mard Hindi bolta hai to aisa lagta hai ke kya bol raha hai ye kon aadmi hai,” which roughly translates to, “To me, the Hindi language feels like a woman is speaking. When a woman speaks Hindi, it sounds really pleasant, but when a man speaks Hindi, it feels like, ‘What is he saying? Who is this person?’”
Yograj Singh then raised his voice to a shrill tone, mocking Hindi by portraying it as a “womanly” language. He subsequently switched to a rough and loud tone while speaking Punjabi, and referred to it as a language more suitable for men.
These remarks were not the end of Yograj Singh’s controversial comments. When Samdish Bhatia asked him about women acquiring positions of power, Yograj Singh opened up his misogynistic ideas of women being not fit for holding power. He cited former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, accusing her of ruining the country during her tenure.
“Wife will destroy your house if you give her power. Sorry to say, Indira Gandhi ran this country and destroyed it. Give them respect and love, but never give them power,” Yograj brazenly added.

Yograj Singh who represented India in one Test match and six ODIs also accused former Indian captain Kapil Dev of unjustly dropping him from the team during Kapil’s captaincy.
Yograj alleged that his wife urged him to confront Kapil Dev after his exclusion. He claimed that in anger, he went to Kapil’s house in Sector 9, Chandigarh, armed with a pistol. However, upon seeing Kapil Dev with his mother, Yograj refrained from violence. He admitted to abusing Kapil Dev and declared, “I want to put a bullet through your head, but I am not doing it because you have a very pious mother, who is standing here.”
Yograj also accused Kapil Dev and Bishan Singh Bedi of plotting against him, alleging personal vendettas. Regarding Bedi, Yograj said, “I never forgave Bishan Singh Bedi. The man died on his bed.”
This is not the first time, Yograj Singh can be heard making deplorable remarks and resorting to misogyny and bigotry. Back in 2020, during a speech at a farmers’ rally near Delhi, Yograj Singh attacked Hindus and made the worst of derogatory comments for Hindu women.
During his address at the farmer’s protest, Yograj Singh claimed that Hindu women were once sold cheaply, stating, “Inki aurate take-take ke bhaw bikti thi” (their women were sold for two cents). He added that Sikh warriors had rescued Hindu women from invaders like Ahmed Shah Durrani, accusing the Hindu community of betrayal and calling them “slaves for thousands of years.”
Yograj Singh also made disparaging remarks about Gujaratis while abusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. He claimed, “I have spent 15 years with Gujaratis in Mumbai. These people would take a u-turn even if they swore on their mothers, sisters, and daughters.”
