On the 10th of December, the ultra-leftist portal, The Wire hosted Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut, who has been acting as a sour losser post the announcement of Maharashtra Assembly election results. In the interview, Sanjay Raut launched a deranged tirade against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. While targeting PM Modi, he indirectly advocated for a Syria like violent takeover. For those unversed, earlier this week, a terrorist group named HTS stormed the Syrian Parliament, forcing the Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad to seek asylum in Russia.
During the interaction, the uncouth Uddhav faction leader ranted that there will come a time when the Indian people will stand against PM Modi and he will be thrown out of the country the same way the former President of Syria, Bashar al-Assad recently was thrown out of Syria by its people.
The Uddhav faction leader Sanjay Raut is infamous for making absurd statements and he continued on the same lines. In the interview Raut once again resorted to a blame game over the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM), the old rhetoric of the opposition political parties in India.
When asked about the landslide victory of Mahayuti alliance and Mahavikas Agadi’s devastating loss in the Maharashtra Assembly election 2024, Sanjay Raut denied taking any responsibility of the defeat and rather pointed fingers against the EVM and alleged that the rigged electoral system caused Mahavikas Agadi its defeat. He reiterated the usual opposition rhetoric, that every democratic institution of the country is in the hands of Bharatiya Janata Party and that the BJP is working to undermine the democracy of the country.
A violent coup like Syria against PM Modi should happen in India as well – Sanjay Raut.

In order to support his claims of a rigged Maharashtra election, Raut claimed that the people of Maharashtra are not happy with the election results and are out in the streets to demand re-election. He even went on to say that the Ladli Bahin Yojna made by the Mahayuti alliance had no impact upon the people and asked to reconduct the election with ballot papers. He alleged that Eknath Shinde is not a big leader and has no caliber on the ground, Raut asserted that Shinde snatched Shiv Sena through unfair means.
While alleging BJP of undermining the democracy, Sanjay Raut also claimed that if the Prime Minister continues to allow the beating down of democracy in the country, there will come a day when the tolerance of the people will end and the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi will have the same fate as that of former Syrian Prime Minister Bashar al-Assad who recently had to flee Syria.
