History seems to be repeating itself with Germany rekindling the pages out of the 1940s playbook when the Jewish community endured unspeakable horrors. This time it’s not the Nazi Germany but the Islamists who are spearheading the persecution of Jews solely for their religious identity.
On the 19th of November, Berlin’s police chief Barbara Slowik admitted that Berlin is not safe for Jewish and ‘openly gay’ people. Alarmingly, according to the Berlin Police chief, Jewish and gay people should hide their identities in specific Arab-majority neighborhoods of the city. These areas, according to Barbara Slowik, exhibit sympathies for terrorist groups and thus pose potential safety risks for these vulnerable communities.
Slowik remarked, “There are areas of the city, (where) we need to be perfectly honest here, where I would advise people who wear a kippah or are openly gay to be more careful.”
She further explained, “There are certain neighborhoods where the majority of people of Arab origin live, who also have sympathies for terrorist groups. While violent crimes against Jewish people are rare, even a single incident is one too many.”
Slowik, however, tried to balance it out saying that her intention was not to stigmatize any specific group. She said, “I do not want to ‘defame’ any particular group of people as perpetrators.”
The warning follows a disturbing incident last month where an armed pro-Palestinian group hunted and almost lynched a Jewish junior football team, Makkabi Berlin. The players, aged 13 to 16, were forced to seek police protection when Islamists armed with sticks and knives chased and attacked them.
According to local reports, antisemitic crimes in Berlin have surged since Hamas terrorists attacked Israel on October 7, last year. Police investigations revealed over 6,200 antisemitic incidents, including physical assaults, online hate speech, and violence during pro-Palestinian demonstrations. Antisemitic incidents have increased by 50% compared to 2022, with two-thirds occurring after October 7.
Slowik confirmed that while Berlin does not have “no-go zones,” visibly Jewish or LGBTQ+ individuals might face discomfort in certain areas. She emphasized the ongoing effort to ensure public safety amidst rising tensions.
Ironically, just like the ‘no-go-zones – Arab areas’, the same terminology is brazenly used by the Indian leftist and Islamist lobby to whitewash the Islamist crimes on the Hindu community in the name of curving a sacrosanctity, sovereign or privileged area – Muslim neighbourhood, Muslim areas, etc.
