Jai Shree Ram!!! Chanted Shagun Parihar, the newly elected BJP legislator and the youngest member of the assembly from Kishtwar, Jammu before taking her formal oath at the Jammu Kashmir Legislative Assembly.
The 29 year old Shagun Parihar came wearing a saffron turban which reflects the spirit of Sanatan Dharma. While wearing a saffron turban and starting his formal oath with Jai Shree Ram, Shagun took her former oath as MLA in Sanskrit.
These gestures should have been a natural sight in the land of Maa Sharda and Rishi Kashyap. However, in a region where, for centuries, Kashmiri Pandits were brutally massacred, forcefully converted, and driven from their homeland, these gestures now evoke a deep sense of warmth and fill every Indian’s heart with immense joy.

BJP’s efforts to change Kashmir-
No one could have imagined from 2014 that a Hindu woman will be able to proudly flaunt her religion and culture in the land which ate both her father and uncle simply for them being Hindus.
Abrogation of Article 370 undertaken by BJP in 2019 must be counted as a major reason behind this. BJP also brought a major change in the Kashmir valley in terms of infrastructure, development. The party gave a major boost to employment in the valley and successfully conducted a free and fair elections in Jammu- Kashmir Valley.
Oath of the Indian Constitution-
This is the first time Jammu and Kashmir CM Oath owed allegiance to the Indian Constitution and not to the Constitution of the state. This was only possible because of the abrogation of Article 370 by the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Shagun Parihar’s struggle-
Shagun Parihar had to face immense personal tragedies and challenges because of Islamism and yet she has emerged as a prominent figure in Jammu and Kashmir’s political landscape. In 2018, her father Ajit Parihar and uncle Anil Parihar, a BJP state secretary, were killed by terrorists on 1stt November, 2018 just before the panchayat polls. Despite these hardships, Shagun pursued her education, completing an MTech and now working on her PhD. Shagun entered politics to honor her family’s legacy. Prime Minister Narendra Modi referred to her as “beti” during a rally. Shagun Parihar has become a ray of hope for India in Jammu and Kashmir.
