Pawan Kalyan begins 11-day penance to restore dharma

Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has decided to undertake an 11-day penance to seek the blessings of Lord Venkateswara following allegations of adulteration of Tirupati laddoos with ‘animal fats’.

“It has come to light that the sacred Tirumala Laddu Prasadam was contaminated with animal fat due to the actions of past ruler. To atone for this grave injustice, I will undertake an 11-day Deeksha starting on September 22, 2024. Let us restore Dharma and preserve the sanctity of Tirumala Venkateswara Swamy,” Kalyan posted on X

He has been anguished ever since he learnt that ‘animal fat’ was allegedly found in ‘laddoos’ distributed as ‘prasadam’.

“The moment I came to know that the laddoo prasadam contained animal remains, my mind was broken. As I am fighting for the welfare of the people, it hurts me that this issue did not come to my attention in the beginning.

Everyone who believes in Sanatana Dharma should atone for this grave injustice done to Balaji, the god of Kali Yuga. As part of that, I decided to do a penance initiation,” the actor-turned politician was quoted as saying.

Meanwhile, the Centre has also sought report on the matter from Andhra Pradesh government.

Also, further probe is on in the matter.
