Amit Shah raps Rahul, Omar Abdullah on Agnipath, Pakistan

Congress MP and the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, was attacked on several counts by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday.

Shah criticized Rahul Gandhi on the Agnipath military recruitment scheme, saying he was playing politics over the issue, and also accused him and National Conference leader Omar Abdullah of planning to release terrorists and holding talks with Pakistan post Jammu and Kashmir elections.

The union minister also defended the implementation of the ‘One Rank One Pension’ and Agniveer schemes.

Shah, addressing an election rally in Haryana, lashed out at the Congress for not implementing the ‘One Rank One Pension’ scheme, and credited Modi for its implementation.

”The Agniveer scheme has been put into action. The Congress, particularly Rahul ‘Baba’, is politicizing the issue,” he alleged.

He mentioned that the Home department and state police forces in the country have given a 20 percent reservation to Agniveers.

”I want to assure Haryana’s youth that the ‘Hooda and company’, who are merely spreading falsehoods, are questioning the future of Agniveers. But I stand by what I commit,” he asserted. ”If any Agniveer returns, they will have a job, and the BJP guarantees that,” he assured.

A few weeks ago, Rahul Gandhi had criticized the Modi government in Lok Sabha over the Agnipath scheme for short-term induction of soldiers, claiming that the people recruited under it were not granted the status of martyrs and were akin to “use and throw labourers.”

However, Gandhi’s contention was refuted by defense minister Rajnath Singh.
