The Jat Association strongly condemns the mimicry of Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar by individuals associated with the Congress. Expressing their discontent through social media, the association decries the mocking of Jagdeep Dhankhar, emphasizing his role as the Vice President and a source of pride for the Jat community. In a statement posted on social media platform X, the Jat Association asserts that this disrespectful incident will be duly acknowledged by the Jat community in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
On Tuesday, Kalyan Banerjee, a Member of Parliament from the Trinamool Congress, triggered a controversy by engaging in a mimicry performance of Jagdeep Dhankhar outside the Parliament building. Kalyan Banerjee was mocking Jagdeep Dhankar while he was protesting with other suspended MPs at the Makar Dwar. Television news channels broadcasted visuals of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi recording the act on his mobile phone.
Rahul Gandhi has been involved in numerous controversies as the congress leader is known for his uninhibited remarks. The minister was also previously surrounded in another controversy where the Congress leader questioned India’s democracy in front of Harvard students. He asserted that India is not a genuinely fair and free democratic nation, highlighting that the significant struggles within the country revolve around caste issues. Rahul Gandhi’s remarks had been the cause of major controversies as they challenged the foundational principles of India’s democratic framework.

Coming back to the initial news, Jagdeep Dhankhar, the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, conveyed his profound dismay regarding the recent incident. Addressing senior Congress leader P Chidambaram and Rahul Gandhi, who was filming the entire event, Jagdeep Dhankhar expressed the gravity of the situation in Rajya Sabha, stating, “Mr. Chidambaram, you are a very senior member. Imagine what I felt when a senior leader of your party, an MP, was filming an act making fun of me, a personal attack.”
He underscored that the affront extended beyond a mere insult to a farmer or a community; rather, it constituted a disrespect to the esteemed position of the Rajya Sabha Chairman. Dhankhar emphasized the significance of the incident, lamenting, “And that too by a party that ruled the country for so long. I am very pained.”
Revealing that the video had initially been posted on the Congress’s official Instagram account, Dhankhar condemned the act, stating, “This is shameful. You used an official handle to humiliate me for my farmer background, to humiliate me as a Jat, to humiliate my position. This is very serious.”
Subsequently, the video was removed from the said account. In addition to the replies, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar also stated that the entire Jat Community will give a befitting reply to this insult in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
The official twitter account of the Jat association posted: “ Vice President and the pride of the Jat community, Jagdeep Dhankar has been mocked. The Jat community will take account of this mockery in the upcoming Lok Sabka Elections.:”
