Over the years, extremist factions plotting against India’s integrity have found refuge in distant lands such as Canada, Pakistan, Malaysia, and beyond. However, recent events indicate a significant shift, as high-profile extremists are facing unprecedented consequences.
The demise of terrorist Lakhbir Singh Rode, the nephew of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, in Pakistan on December 2, marks a turning point. Rode, the head of the banned organization ‘Khalistan Zindabad Force,’ was allegedly involved in terror activities against India, residing in Lahore. His death reveals a systematic campaign against Islamic extremists and Sikh separatists, suggesting a strategic move by India.
Rode’s case is not isolated, and a similar pattern emerges in the demise of other extremists. Notably, Paramjeet Singh Panjwar, a leading figure of the Khalistan Commando Force, was assassinated outside his hideout in Lahore. This coordinated effort, although not explicitly acknowledged by India’s intelligence agency Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), hints at direct or indirect involvement.

Just a year after being declared wanted by India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) for conspiring to kill Hindu priests in Jalandhar, Hardeep Singh Nijjar was killed by unknown assailants on 18th of June 2023 in Surrey, Canada.
Another Gangster, Sukha Duneke fled to Canada from India in 2017 with seven criminal cases registered against him. Intelligence inputs from Canada suggest his killing in inter-gang rivalry, but of course observes linked the killing with the Indian Intelligence agency RAW.
Another notorious gangster-turned-terrorist, Harvinder Singh Rinda met his demise in a Lahore hospital, reportedly due to a ‘drug overdose.’
And to add on, India’s crackdown on extremism is not just confined to its own borders or neighboring Pakistan. The recent incidents in Thailand and Italy exemplify this strategy. In Thailand, Khalistani terrorist Kulwinderjit Singh, alias Khanpuria, was deported and immediately arrested by the NIA upon landing at the Indira Gandhi International Airport. In Italy, gangster Happy Sanghera from Ferozepur met his untimely end.
Despite Canada and the US attempting to exert international pressure and ignite geopolitical tensions surrounding the demise of extremist Nijjar, India, under the steadfast leadership of Narendra Modi, has unequivocally asserted its position. This is not a reiteration of the old India; it refuses to etch its legacy by merely eliminating anti-India forces.

The stage is indeed set for a monumental shift in the global narrative. With the script of defiance against external pressures penned firmly, India, under the visionary guidance of Narendra Modi, confidently strides into the future. The impact it leaves on the world stage is not just significant but promises to be indelible, marking a new chapter in India’s unwavering pursuit of sovereignty and strength.
This comprehensive approach signifies a departure from the conventional and a move towards a more assertive and preemptive strategy. The elimination of key figures involved in anti-India activities, coupled with international cooperation and pressure, demonstrates India’s commitment to securing its borders and interests. As these events unfold, it is clear that India is navigating the complex landscape of counter-terrorism with a calibrated and resolute approach.
