In the world of cinema, where actors often opt for exotic, overseas wedding destinations, Bollywood actor Randeep Hooda and his partner Lin Laishram chose a different path. They got married in Imphal, Manipur, embracing traditional Indian wedding customs. At the wedding, Randeep stood out in his native Manipuri attire, making a remarkable entrance with music and surrounded by loved ones. Clad in white, he embodied the essence of a Manipuri groom, accompanied by his family and relatives.
Videos from the wedding show Lin, embracing her cultural roots, dressed as a traditional Manipuri bride. Randeep, following the customary attire for grooms, wore a white shawl. Lin’s attire was especially notable; she wore a Potloi or Polloi, a unique cylindrical skirt made from heavy fabric and reinforced with bamboo. This skirt is often embellished with satin, velvet, jewels, and sparkling elements, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Manipur. Their choice to celebrate their union in such a traditional manner stands out in an industry known for its inclination towards more modern, westernized wedding styles.
Actors Randeep Hooda and Lin Laishram’s wedding in Imphal was a private affair, distinct from the usual celebrity weddings. Unlike events that attract paparazzi and create flashy, cinematic scenes, their wedding was free from media intrusion. There were no moments staged for cameras, no dramatic reactions similar to those seen in high-profile Bollywood weddings like Parineeti’s theatrical response to Raghav Chadha or the much-talked-about Alia-Ranbir wedding.
The ceremony took place at the Chumthang Shannapung resort in Imphal, embracing the traditional Meitei style. This decision reflected the couple’s preference for an authentic, culturally rich celebration over a more publicized and glamorous event.
