This turmoil followed the recent lifting of a nearly five-month ban on mobile internet services in the region.

Regarding the recent killings of the two students, Phijam Hemjit, aged 20, and Hijam Linthoingambi, aged 17, Chief Minister Biren Singh assured that action would be taken against the perpetrators. The case has been handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), and a team led by the agency’s special director, Ajay Bhatnagar, has already arrived in Imphal to investigate the matter.
