Vicky Kaushal is portraying Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj on silver screen and what a terrific choice it is

Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj biopic

Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj biopic: Historicals seems to be the new cool in Indian cinema. Going beyond the domains of biopics, and following the success of projects like “RRR”, “Rocketry”, several filmmakers are daring to take a deep plunge into the ocean of Indian history. One such guy is Laxman Utekar, and the choice for his upcoming project is simply phenomenal to say the least.

There are few filmmakers in this country, who have dared to portray the Mughals as they were, and fewer who have attempted to show the real heroes of our nation. However, Laxman Utekar, who has light hearted films like “Luka Chuppi” and “Mimi” to his credit, has now decided to do the unthinkable: bring the valour of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj on screen, and guess who might be the hero in this biopic? It’s Vicky Kaushal, who might show the legendary warrior as he actually was on screen.

Circle of Life

As per various sources, Laxman Utekar has approached Vicky Kaushal, with whom he has already shot a film. Vicky Kaushal appears to have liked the subject, and as of now, the Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj biopic is in pre-production stages, and an official announcement is to be made in this very regard.

If everything turns out to be right, after brave hearts like Tanaji Malusare and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj were given their due, it seems that Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj is next. With a man like Vicky Kaushal portraying him, it is only apt to say that this could be the project Bollywood desperately yearns for.

However, if cent per cent true, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj biopic project is like a circle of life coming true for the acclaimed actor. A couple of years ago, he was all set to play an iconic role onscreen, had it not been for the arrogance of Deepika Padukone. Very few know that it wasn’t Shahid Kapoor, but Vicky Kaushal, who was Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat, in the role of Rawal Ratan Singh, the last Guhila ruler of Chittor. Imagine a man like Vicky clashing with Ranveer Singh, portraying the role of Alauddin Khilji.

An actor class apart

Vicky Kaushal is also one of the few actors, who enigmatic personality, as well as his intensity is enough to attract people in thousands, even millions to be honest. For a man, who began as a humble cremation worker in “Masaan”, none could have anticipated the way he blew the silver screen apart as Major Vihaan Singh Shergill in “Uri: The Surgical Strike”. While many might agree or disagree with the ideological bent of “Sardar Udham”, none can disagree that Vicky Kaushal played the role to near perfection.

Besides, Vicky Kaushal is one of the few actors in the industry, who doesn’t need a good script to define the talent he has. He is all set to play the eponymous war hero, Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw in the upcoming war drama, “Sam Bahadur”, and Meghna Gulzar better portray this hero as he was.

Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj biopic: The perfect fit

There are some people, who make the roles their own, and there are some, who are out of place in the roles they were cast in. But Vicky Kaushal is not one of them. Though he has many films ahead of him, a proper historical would give Vicky the edge not many have the luxury of in Indian cinema, especially Bollywood. He didn’t get a National Award for his role in “Uri: The Surgical Strike” for nothing!

In case the Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj goes on floors, Vicky Kaushal can and will give it his all to make sure the legendary warrior, who had suffered a barbaric end, is given his due justice. As of now, Ajay Devgn’s “Chanakya” is under wraps, and Bollywood is presently not in the right shape. If Laxman Utekar manages to achieve his dream, Vicky Kaushal’s name will be etched in the history of Indian cinema with golden letters.
