Acharya Chanakya biopic: Regardless of whether you are a fan of Ajay Devgn or not, it’s hard to overlook his impact. While his recent film “Bholaa” may not have been a blockbuster like “Drishyam 2”, it still managed to avoid being a complete flop, following in the footsteps of “Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar” as the second Hindi film this year to do so. The film was made on a budget of around 100 crores and has already grossed 101 crores worldwide, with the domestic box office expected to exceed 100 crores soon.
However, is Ajay Devgn content with just this? In this article, we explore why Ajay Devgn should embrace experimentation and how portraying “Acharya Chanakya” in a biopic could be a game-changer for his career and Indian cinema as a whole.
Ajay’s career graph
Ajay Devgn’s upcoming films include “Bholaa”, which marks his fourth directorial project and is expected to surpass the success of “Shivaay”. He also has a string of other films in the pipeline, starting with “Maidan” in June, where he portrays Syed Abdul Rahim, the dynamic coach of the Indian football team. He will then appear in “Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha”, directed by Neeraj Pandey after a long hiatus. Furthermore, he is set to reprise his role as Bajirao Singham in “Singham Again” directed by Rohit Shetty, slated for release on Diwali in 2024.

Why “Acharya Chanakya” Biopic is essential
There was talk not too long ago about Ajay Devgn’s “Acharya Chanakya” project, a biopic on the famous historical figure. When Devgn teamed up with director Neeraj Pandey for a future project, many speculations arose. At one point, it was almost confirmed that Devgan would play the role of Acharya Chanakya as well.
However, when “Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha” was announced, rumors started circulating. It’s currently unclear whether “Chanakya” has been shelved, with the failure of “Vikram Vedha” potentially being a factor. There hasn’t been any official confirmation or denial of the rumors. As a result, those assuming that the project has been cancelled are not receiving any concrete assurance.
The history of Indian cinema can change….
Why must we have a biopic on Acharya Chanakya, and what if Ajay Devgn becomes him? The burning question remains.
Devgn has proven time and again that he can dive deep into a character, as evidenced by his performances in “The Legend of Bhagat Singh” and “Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior”. So when he’s offered the role of Magadha’s chief advisor and the architect of a unified India, one can’t help but wonder how he’ll bring it to life. The anticipation is palpable!
Imagine the theater’s atmosphere when Ajay Devgn utters the iconic dialogue, “I, Chanak’s son Vishnugupt, take this vow.” Devgn is known for fearlessly experimenting with his roles, leaving a lasting impact with his performance in films like “RRR”.
Just like KK Menon embodies the essence of an Indian Sherlock Holmes, Devgn would be the perfect fit to portray the legendary Acharya Chanakya. And if Menon is cast as Dhananand, the audience would go wild, much like with “RRR” and “Kantara”.

So, what’s the deal here? Can Ajay Devgan and Neeraj Pandey finally give Bollywood the all-time classic it’s been desperately needing for two decades? Let’s face it, “Dangal” and “Pathaan” just didn’t cut it like “Baahubali” and “RRR” did. But with the potential of a Chanakya biopic, Bollywood might just have a chance to prove that it’s still the powerhouse of Indian cinema. It’s time for Ajay Devgan and Neeraj Pandey to step up and take the reins of this project.
