Varaha Swamy Temple is located in Pushkar, Rajasthan, India, which is famous for the remains of illustrious royal dynasties in the form of many palaces, forts and temples. Varaha Temple is one of the major temples of Rajasthan dedicated to the worship of Lord Vishnu. Lord Vishnu incarnated in the form of pig, which is worshiped in temples across India.

History of this Temple

The construction of the Pushkar Varaha Swamy Temple was originally started in the 12th century, but was destroyed by the fanatical Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. It was rebuilt in 1727 by King Sawai Jai Singh II of Jaipur. Varaha is one of the major avatars of Lord Vishnu, in human and animal form. This temple is one of the most visited temples in Pushkar by tourists. Boar is the third incarnation of Lord Vishnu. The story behind this incarnation involves Vishnu killing a demon to benefit Bhudevi.
