With an urge to bolster ties with India, the US seems to be aligning its agenda with India’s concerns. Recent days have seen many high-level visits exchanged from either side. Addressing India’s concerns on terrorism, the United States of America recently praised India’s effort in counter-terrorism operations. And now a new United States Intelligence report is out, and that too questions Pakistan’s role in terrorism.
In a report by United States Intelligence, it was noted that there were fears of “escalating” tension between India and Pakistan despite attempts to keep peace. The United States Intelligence report highlighted the ongoing militancy and violence in Kashmir, which could potentially become a “flashpoint.” The report further emphasized that any escalation between these two nuclear-armed nations would have negative consequences.
The United States Intelligence report says, “New Delhi and Islamabad probably are inclined to reinforce the current calm in their relationship following both sides’ renewal of a cease-fire along the Line of Control in early 2021. Each side’s perception of heightened tensions raises the risk of conflict, with violent unrest in Kashmir or a militant attack in India being potential flashpoints.”
The United States Intelligence report admits Pakistan’s role in promoting terrorism and anti-India militancy in Kashmir and also mentions the current government’s stand in dealing with terrorism and militancy. Although India had historically refrained from retaliating militarily to such activities from Pakistan, things might be different under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership.

“Pakistan has a long history of supporting anti-India militant groups, and under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is more likely than in the past to respond with military force to perceived or real Pakistani provocations,” the report read.
The United States Intelligence report comes at a time when Pakistan has carried forward its annoying cry on Kashmir at the United Nations. Replying to the way Ruchira Kamboj portrayed Pakistan’s relevance for India in her statement, “My delegation considers it unworthy to even respond to such malicious and false propaganda.”
It is noteworthy that in 2021, the United States Intelligence report did not go beyond the factual depiction of tensions between India and Pakistan. But for the first time in 2022, the report took a realist approach and categorically focused on the Indo-China conflict, calling for possible US intervention.
The most interesting fact of the Intelligence report is that it clearly gives credit to PM Modi for effectively dealing with anti-India militancy. This must be noted here: the militancy and terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir have steeply fallen under the current government. So, it can be deduced that it is PM Modi’s policy and the military’s free hand for operations that have become a deterrent force for Pakistan, and hence, both the Pakistan government and its pet terrorist are scared of Modi and Shah.
