Kalka Mata Mandir is located in a quaint town located in Panchkula, Haryana, Kalka is named after Goddess Kali, one of the major Hindu deities. Nestled in the foothills of the enchanting Himalayas, it is the gateway to Himachal Pradesh. It is situated between Shimla and Chandigarh and is famous for its Kalka-Shimla Railway Terminus. The calmness, peace and tranquility offered by Kalka helps weary souls find respite from the stressful urban life.

History of this Temple

It got its name from Goddess Kali, the ruling deity of Kalka in Haryana. Haryana Kalka Mata Mandir is believed to have been built by the Pandavas. In 1843, the place was acquired by the East India Company from the princely state of Patiala. It was used as a depot and also a resting place on the way to Shimla. Later, it was shifted to Shimla and then to Ambala district.

The major area of ​​the city was developed by the erstwhile Rajput clan, who were called Chaudhary or Pundhir. It was snatched away by the British from the rulers of Patiala in the 1800s for rail development. This helped in the rapid economic development of the region. In 1903, it was opened as the Kalka-Shimla Railway. Today, it is one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Haryana Kalka Mata Mandir opens at 6:00 AM in the morning and close at 9:00 PM in the evening. Morning aarti is performed at 6:30 AM in the morning and evening aarti is performed at 8:30 PM in the evening.
