Jotiba Mandir Chakala Dham – Guide

Jotiba Mandir Chakala Dham is an important religious place located in West Bengal. It is the birthplace of the Hindu yogi Baba Loknath in the 18th century. Jotiba Mandir Chakala Dham is dedicated to Baba Loknath and throughout the year many devotees visit this holy temple to attain salvation and they also tie “Dhaga” near the temple for the fulfilment of their deepest desires.

History of this Temple

Baba Loknath was born on the auspicious day of Janmashtami in 1730 in a Hindu family. His father Shri Ramnarayan and mother Kamla Devi had four sons and wanted to dedicate one of their sons to the path of the Lord in the spiritual world. Eventually, Baba Loknath’s parents sent him to the spiritual world to become a ‘Sanyasi’.

There is a dispute whether the birthplace of Loknath was originally Chakla Dham or Kachua Dham. Many of them feel that Kachhua Dham was the original birthplace of Loknath Baba. The saint went to many places and finally, he reached Baradi near Dhaka where a wealthy family gave him shelter, which later came to be recognized as his ashram. Yogi finally passed away in the year 1890.
