How Lambloo Himachal villagers achieved progress through community action

Building the path to progress: The power of collective action.

Story of Lambloo: The importance of community action and the power of collective effort to drive change are mostly underrated in India. To understand this, we have to look at the bottlenecks to see whether it is even necessary to do so in the present day and age.

We all know that even after 75 years of independence, there is a lot that has to be done to provide basic amenities to every household in the nation. There is no doubt that India has made significant progress in infrastructural development. Since its inception in 2000, the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojna has covered more than 780,000 kilometers. However, it has not yet achieved its aim of providing connectivity to every corner of the country.

That’s why, in addition to holding governments accountable for their actions and development, community action and collective efforts have to kick in to fill the remaining gap in rural connectivity and provide other such basic amenities. In fact, we have a very recent example of this powerful person’s initiative to drive progress in their nearby area.

Without cribbing, they decided to build the road with their own resources. In an inspiring turn of events, the local residents pooled resources to construct a portion of the road. Later, they also agreed to contribute more resources and money as the work progresses.

The efforts of the residents didn’t go unnoticed. Their initiative paved the way for better transport and development in the area.
