Datia Mandir Madhya Pradesh – Guide

Shri Pitambara Peetha Temple also known as Datia Mandir is one of the most famous and powerful Shakti Peethas of Maa Bagalamukhi, which was established by Bramhlin Pujyapad Rashtraguru Anant Shri Swami Ji Maharaj. Shri Pitambara Peeth is located in Datia city of Madhya Pradesh. The Datia Mandir is dedicated to Goddess Bagalamukhi. A statue of Goddess Dhumavati can also be seen in the temple premises. Goddess Dhumavati and Bagalamukhi are considered Mahavidya.

History of this Temple

The Shakti Peeth of Bagalamukhi Datia Mandir was built in 1935 by Bramhlin Pujyapad Rashtra Guru Anant Shree Swami Ji Maharaj. He also established a temple of Goddess Dhumavati inside the temple complex. At present, a trust looks after the temple of Shri Pitambara Peeth. In northern parts of India, Goddess Bagalamukhi is worshiped as Pitambara Maa. Sri Pitambara Peetha Temple is one of the most famous Shakti Peethas of Bagalamukhi, established by Bramhlin Pujyapad Rashtraguru Anantha Shree Swami Ji Maharaj in the 1920s.

Swami Ji Maharaj, the founder of Pitambara Peeth temple, was a connoisseur of language, literature and classical music. Famous classical musicians often visited this Peetha to meet Swamiji.

Datia Mandir Timings

Datia Mandir opens at 5:00 AM in the morning and close at 11:00 PM in the evening. Morning aarti is performed at 7:00 AM in the morning and evening aarti performed at 9:00 PM in the evening.

Places to visit near this Temple

Veer Singh Dev Palace

The palace of Veer Singh Dev is also a palace to be seen in Datia. The ticket here is only Rs 25 per person. In this palace, you can see Mughal and Rajput architecture together. This palace was built in 1620 by the Bundela ruler Veer Singh Dev.

Archaeological Museum

There is a small archaeological museum located in the market near the palace, in which you must visit, there is no entry fee, here you will get to see all the remains related to Datia, then brother, it will hardly take you 20 minutes.

Bade Govind Ji’s temple

Bade Govind Ji’s temple is also located in the centre of Datia city and it is in Govindganj or rather it is located in the main market of Datia.

Datia Fort

Datia’s fort is just 600-700 meters away from Veer Singh Dev Mahal, which is at a place named Chok, however, now only ruins are left here, a market has been built in this fort.
