Birla Mandir Shahad – Guide

Birla Mandir is dedicated to Lord Vithoba. Birla Mandir is located on a small hill in the vicinity of Century Rayon Company in Shahad, about 60 km from Mumbai, Maharashtra. The temple houses an idol of Lord Vithoba, who is believed to be an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Apart from the idol of Lord Vithoba, the temple also has idols of Goddess Rukmani, Goddess Lakshmi, Lord Narayan and Lord Ganesha. The most prominent idol in the temple is that of Lord Vishnu and his ten avatars.

History of this Temple

The Shahad Birla Mandir was built by the Birla family. The building of the temple is amazing and resembles the southern architectural style. The walls and pillars of the temple are decorated with intricate carvings. It includes structures of various deities in Hindu scriptures and mythological characters.

Though it is a century old temple yet it has been beautifully maintained. There is a flight of stairs leading to the temple. The hall of the temple is huge and can accommodate thousands of devotees. There are stairs leading out of the temple on both sides of the temple.
