It looks like Pakistan is waking up from its dream and opening its eyes to see reality. Bilawal Bhutto during a press conference at the United Nations. He was responding to a question that drew parallels between the situation in Palestine and Kashmir.
He said, “You’re also right to note that we face a particularly uphill task to try and get Kashmir into the center of the agenda at the United Nations.” His statement depicts that Pakistan has understood that its agenda in Kashmir is reduced to a hollow claim. The countries around the world are fed up with listening to their unbearable cry for as many as 75 years.

Bilawal Bhutto’s commented that nobody takes Pakistan seriously could be seen as an admission of Pakistan’s weakened position on the global stage.

But the best part that came around in the conference was when he fabled and called India a friend. He told the press, “And whenever the issue of Kashmir is brought up, our friends within, with, our friends in, our neighbors in, our neighboring countries, strongly object, vociferously object, and they perpetuate a post-fact narrative where they try to claim that this is not a dispute for the United Nations, that this is not a disputed territory recognized by the international community.”
Does Pakistan want reconciliation?
Many people are anticipating it as a coincidence and the immaturity of Bilawal Bhutto that he often showcases from time to time. However, there is a faction that believes that it is a calculated move. The person who once claimed to bring back every inch of Kashmir and whose family made the lives of Indians, especially Kashmiris, a living hell for decades is suddenly talking about reconciliation.
The point being that maybe it was a bluff move to check the reaction, thereby calculating the possibility of resuming bilateral relations with India. This notion cannot be ignored altogether, because on the same line, Pakistan’s PM also gave a statement a few months ago. However, this is going to earn Pakistan nothing unless Islamabad ends its biggest entrepreneurial sector, terrorism.
