Bhairon Mandir is located in Katra at a distance of 3 km from Bhavan or the holy cave of Mata Vaishno Devi. After Mata Vaishno Devi Cave Temple, it is the next pilgrimage centre that pilgrims come to. In fact, the holy journey of Mata Vaishno Devi is considered complete only when devotees offer prayers at the Bhairon Temple, thus, a large number of Hindu pilgrims visit this holy shrine. The temple is situated on the adjacent hill of Trikuta at a height of 2017 meters. An important attraction in the Bhairon temple is a Havan Kund, the ashes of which are considered sacred.

History of this Temple

According to history Bhairon Nath’s severed head was thrown on a hill near Trikuta. While dying, Bhairon realized his mistake and apologized to Mata Vaishno Devi. The goddess not only forgave him but also gave him the boon of being worshiped by devotees who would come to the building to seek blessings.
