Shri Banke Bihari Mandir is a very famous temple of Hindu religion which is located in the holy city of Vrindavan in Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh state. Shri Banke Bihari Temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna and is one of the most famous and most revered temples in the country. Banke Bihari Temple is one such temple in which the idol situated is a single form of Sri Krishna and Radharani.

History of this Temple

Haridas, who was a devotee of Lord Krishna, spent most of his time in meditation, reading scriptures and praying. Then Swami Haridas requested Krishna and Radha to give a form to the image of both of them and with this he wished the Lord to be always in front of his vision. Lord Shri Krishna accepted this prayer of Swami ji and fulfilled the wishes of his devotees and left an attractive image of himself. This black image appeared there taking the shape of an idol. Vrindavan Banke Bihari Mandir was formally built in 1864 with contributions from the Goswamis. After the temple was built, the Goswamis shifted the idol of the Lord to the temple. This magnificent idol is the same which was given by the Lord on the request of Swami Haridas.

Vrindavan Banke Bihari Mandir opens at 8:00 AM to 12:00 Noon in the morning and from 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM in the evening. Morning aarti is performed at 7:45 AM in the morning and evening aarti is performed at 8:00 PM in the evening.
