US-Russia mini-war going on in Aero India Show 2023

Aero India show

The cold war rivals are again at war with their best aircraft and air capabilities. No! Do not see it the other way. It is not a conventional warfare. It is actually their dog fight at the ongoing Aero India show in Bengaluru. They are seeking a deal that could let them alienate India from the other.

Aero India show: Dogfight between Russia and US

With the recent doctrine, Indian Air force has expressed its intention that it aims to become ‘future ready’ air force in the world. This makes the Aero India Show more crucial. Seeing an opportunity, US has sent its largest ever delegation to India. This was followed by an announcement that the multirole F-35A Lightning II and F-35A Joint Strike Fighter, which are the latest fifth-generation fighters, will be displayed at the show. These planes have traveled a long distance from their home bases in the US to be showcased at the event.

The intention of this public display of air manoeuvres is to convince India to buy this costly but state-of-the-art aircraft and alienate India from Russia. As, Russia has also sent its two fifth-generation fighter aircraft in what is being described as a “stealth dogfight” between the fifth-generation fighter aircraft of the US and Russia. Apart from the export-focused Sukhoi-75 Light Tactical Fighter Jet Aircraft, which is being introduced in India, the other Russian stealth platform available is the Su-57E fifth-generation aircraft.

India’s benefit is certain

For the first time Su-75 ‘checkmate’ is going to be showcased in India. This becomes more important after the Russia proposal to seal the deal on checkmate with India. Russia, actually wants to bridge the gap that has aroused after India rejected Su-57 aircraft.

The Aero India show is still ongoing and it will take sometime to fructify. But one thing is pretty sure that there is a tug-of-war between Russia and United States for being partners with India. This is certainly a big moment for India and its defense sector.
