Shanidham Vrindavan – Guide

This Shanidham falls before Vrindavan near the town named Kosikala. This Dham is situated in the middle of a small forest. The importance of Shani is almost the same at all places, but there is a specialty here that when you come after worshiping Shani, then from that time all your worries vanish from your mind and your mind becomes happy. Shri Shani Dev Temple, Shri Gokuleshwar Mahadev Temple, Shri Giriraj Temple, Shri Baba Bankhandi Temple, Shri Dev Bihari Temple are prominent in Kokila Dham. Apart from the temples, two ancient lakes and a cow shed are also located here.

History of this Temple

In Dwaparayuga, Shani Dev had done severe penance to please Lord Krishna. Pleased with his penance, Shri Krishna appeared to Shani Dev in the form of a cuckoo. Shri Krishna had said that Kokila forest adjacent to Nandgaon is his forest. The person who worships Lord Shani and circumambulators’ this forest gets the blessings of both me and Lord Shani. This is the reason why the Shani Dev temple of Kokilavaan has the status of Siddha temple.
