Dr. Mohan Gopal’s speech at the CJAR seminar was a thought-provoking analysis of the Indian judiciary’s current state and the government’s alleged strategy to establish a “Hindu Rashtra” by appointing politically biased judges.
He drew parallels between the current situation and a game of chess, where the government is making strategic moves to gain control of the judiciary, while the collegium, responsible for judicial appointments, tries to safeguard the Constitution.
Is law not like religion?? If given the opportunity won’t law be dominant like religion as seen in hijab case. Given the current state of society, we needs more sympathy, than rationality, that can be derived from faith, tradition, and ancient texts.

The speech was riveting and left the audience with much to ponder. Dr. Gopal’s analysis of the judiciary’s current state and the alleged government strategy to undermine its independence was compelling, however, religion is an important concept that we need to imbibe in our lifestyle.
His argument about the role of law in society and its potential to become as dominant as religion was thought-provoking, however, the call for more compassion and understanding should be the takeaway.
