Kaila Devi Mandir, Karauli – Guide
Kaila Devi Mandir is one of the Hindu temple which is located in Kailadevi village of Karauli district, Rajasthan. This temple is dedicated to Kaila Devi who is regarded as Mahalakshmi, the goddess of wealth. Two major attractions of this temple is Hanumanji Temple and Bhairon Baba Temple, which are located in the premises of temple. The sanctum sanctorum of the temple houses two deities, one of which is Kaila Devi and the other Chamunda Devi.
History of this Temple
Kaila Devi Mandir is dedicated to Kaila Devi, the family goddess of the erstwhile Rajput Jadaun Rajput rulers of Karauli State. According to legend, King Bhompal Devi was a great devotee of Kaila Devi and it was the Goddess who instructed him to build a temple at this place. When the king got the temple built here, this holy temple became so famous that lakhs of devotees from far and wide come to this temple to have darshan of the goddess.
Later, Maharaja Gopal Singh of the Yadav dynasty built a large and beautiful temple with a dome, the top of which was made of gold. Maharaja Bhanwarpal built several buildings here and the area soon acquired much in terms of its sanctity and natural charm. Two idols are installed in the sanctum sanctorum. The idol of Kaila Devi located here is slightly inclined because the goddess’s neck is bent. This idol is very old and it is made of stone available at this place.

Kaila Devi Mandir opens from 8:00 to 11:00 AM in the morning and from 7:00 to 9:00 PM in the evening.

Ranthambore Sanctuary
Kaila Devi Temple is attached to one side of this Ranthambore Sanctuary. Ranthambore National Park is one of the best tiger reserves in the country located in Rajasthan, which is known for the “friendly” tigers present here.

Kailadevi Wildlife Sanctuary
Kailadevi Wildlife Sanctuary is situated near Kaila Devi Temple. It is spread over an area of 680 sq km and this sanctuary not only has a lot of animals and birds but two rivers Banas river and Chambal river are situated in it.
Ramthara Fort
The fort of Ramthara is situated at a distance of 15 km from Karauli. This grand fort is at least 4 centuries old. A Ganesh temple and a Shiva temple are also located in this fort.

By Air- The nearest airport from this temple is Jaipur airport which is at a distance of 160 km from this temple. From here you can easily reach this temple by using local transport services or taxi.
By Train- The nearest railway station from Kaila Devi Mandir is Gangapur City Railway Station which is at a distance of about 35 km from this temple. From here you can easily reach this temple by using local transport services or taxi.
By Road- Roads to Kaila Devi Mandir are well connected with the other cities of the country so you can easily reach this temple by using your own vehicle or by any public buses or taxi from any part of the country.
