Dewas Mata Mandir – Guide

Dewas is a major city of India located in the state of Madhya Pradesh and is situated at a distance of just 35 kms from Indore. By the way, Dewas is an industrial city and note printing factory is also located here. Apart from this, Dewas is also famous for the Mata Mandir, which is situated on a hill here.

Dewas Mata Mandir located in Dewas is also known by many different names Maa Chamunda Mandir Dewas, Dewas ki Mata Ka Mandir, Dewas Wali Maa Ka Mandir, Tekri Mata Mandir, Mata Mandir Dewas, and Maa Chamunda Tekri. Please tell that this temple is one of the Shakti Peethas of India which is dedicated to Tulja Bhavani and Chamunda Devi. This temple is situated on a hill and is also very old.

History of this Temple

Dewas Mata Mandir is considered among one of the 52 Shaktipeeths. It is said that parts of the mother’s body had fallen on other Shaktipeeths of the country, but here the mother’s blood had fallen on the tekri, due to which mother Chamunda Devi appeared here. The Tulja Bhavani temple at Tekri was established by the Marathi royal family and they worshiped Mata as their Kuldevi. Both mothers are real sisters. It is said that Vikramaditya’s brother Bharthari did penance in this temple. It is said about the temple that this temple is from time immemorial. But there is no evidence of the antiquity of the temple.
