History of this Temple

Baijnath Mandir Uttarakhand was known as Kartikeyapur in ancient times. First of all, this city was made its capital by Katyuri king Narasimha Dev. Since then the city remained the capital of the Katyuri dynasty. These people ruled here from 7th to 13th century, at the same time they rebuilt this temple.

Uttarakhand Baijnath Mandir complex has several inscriptions which date back to 1202 AD. In which the evidence of the rule of Katyuri dynasty is found. Later this state disintegrated in the 13th century after the death of the last king of Katyuri kingdom, Birdev Singh, after which 8 more princely states were born.
