Liberals have problems with men in general and family men in specific

There used to be a time when liberals used to point towards problems in society. It has changed now. In the 21st century, they have become progenitors of it. The biggest victims of this phenomenon are men. After attacking what they term as toxic masculinity, now they are after family men.

Indian Express sees villain in Vijay Salgaonkar

Not even in wildest dreams would someone have imagined that Ajay Devgan’s character in Drishyam would be subject to character assassination. Oh, but Indian Express has done it. His commitment to protect his family has been shown as part of machismo. You may think what is wrong in protecting a family? Nothing. The problem is that the author thinks it is bad, presumably because protecting family is only masculine ethos in his eyes.

To be honest, it can be bad, when a man crosses the line of violence. That is not the problem here. Author acknowledges that Vijay Salgaonkar did not kill anyone. He still has problems with it. According to the author, Vijay Slagaonkar doesn’t respect his wife and two children. To substantiate his argument, the author cites that Vijay allowed his daughter to get physically beaten in furtherance of his plan. The author conveniently forgets that the flip side of that temporary pain borne by his daughter was a jail term destroying her career, dignity and what not.

Absolute reversal of English lexicon

Moreover, he also concludes that Vijay not sharing the secret with his wife is akin to disrespecting her. It is absolutely ignored that such secrets are destined to be kept secret. That is why it is called a “secret”. Vijay allowed his wife to live peacefully in day-to-day life by taking care of all legal proceedings. But Indian Express thinks that not knowing about the burial ground gave Shreya Saran’s character more anxiety. In other words, genuine effort by a man to reduce anxiety of his wife causes more anxiety to her. Never in history would you hear such an inverted nature of language. Author claims precisely the opposite of what facts on the ground are.

There is one more. Shreya Saran’s anxiety has also been contrasted with that of Ajay Devgan. Both characters were going through the same stress. One found comfort in expressing it while the other kept it in his heart. Author interprets Ajay Devgan keeping calm as a careless attitude. Extrapolating this logic will tell you that M S Dhoni did not even care about the Indian team. Reason being, he never flinched, whether the team won the world cup or lost 4-0 against Australia.

I think we have got to the root of the problem. This steady and calm head is inimical to liberals. They rejoice in chaos and people like Vijay Salgaonkar keep things in order. This is the reason why men are being attacked left, right and centre.

Men are villains for liberals

Men as a class belong to what these people term as “oppressive patriarchy”. It is a Marxist term designed to present one class of humans against the other. Academic subjects like Gender Studies push the theory that the only way to look at evolution of genders is men oppressed women. There is not an iota of rationality and objective thinking. Students in these disciplines are not taught that men and women have complimented each-other throughout history to get to where we are. The social division of labour is termed as oppression of women by men. Even something as natural as being mother or father is being demonised by nihilist utopians.

No wonder, when it comes to breaking the shackles of “patriarchy”, men are the first target. Pick any advertisement involving family. In most of them, you will find men being shown as buffoons. He is being rebuked either from his parents, wife or even his own children. The same industry which cursed man for slapping his wife in movie “Thappad” had no problem in showing Sanjana Sanghi slapping a man in Lionsgate advertisement. Similarly, the Cars24 advertisement clearly promotes women using men like Cars. Then there is Mankind Pharma advertisement openly calling every man as toxic.

Misandric movies

Advertisements are just tip of the iceberg. There are movies openly propagating misandry.   ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’, ‘Veere Di Wedding’, ‘Pyaar Ka Punchnama series’, ‘Darlings’ and recently released ‘Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey’ are some of the honourable mentions. There is a common theme uniting all of them. Natural men’s reaction, which is not suitable for a particular situation is made fun of. That would be okay if they would have provided a solution to it, but a constructive mechanism to assimilate the majority of men in social order does not exist.

Result? Men who have no social support end up committing violence,

Something which they are wired by nature and also something which social mechanisms are supposed to weaken. This violence erupts in two ways. If they are careless, others become victims of it, as it happens in the majority of cases of mass shooting. If they are well-mannered and less savages like Indian men, they commit suicides. NCRB data on suicide stands as a strong testimony to it.

Ultimately it is society which stands to lose. There is an explicit attempt to weaken men. Clinical Psychologist Jordan Peterson once said, ‘if you think tough men are dangerous, wait until you see what weak men are capable of.’ We are not far away from seeing its consequences. Shades are already there.
