Bharat Mata Mandir, also known as Mother India Temple, is a unique temple located in Haridwar, one of the holiest pilgrimage sites in India. Situated on the banks of the Ganges, this temple welcomes people of all religions and tourists, due to which a large number of devotees visit here every year.

Bharat Mata Mandir is 180 feet high and has eight storeys. Each floor of this temple is associated with the mythology of the deities. Bharat Mata Temple is also dedicated to all the patriotic freedom fighters who contributed to the independence of the country.

History of this Temple

Bharat Mata Mandir was inaugurated in the year 1983 by the then Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi. Earlier this temple had only a few floors but, in later times it was made an eight storey temple. Considered a sacred temple as well as a temple dedicated to patriots and freedom fighters. The height of this temple is about 180 feet and there is a lift to go to every floor. Bharat Mata Temple is a famous multi-storied temple of India which is 180 feet in height while classified into eight floors.

Pawan Dham

Popular among all the places to visit near Haridwar, Pawan Dham reflects the fine artistry and craftsmanship of the age-old era through the use of glass pieces. The temple was built through the efforts of Swami Vedantananda Ji Maharaj and the splendid glass work along with the artistically designed walls stand as a special attraction of the temple. The marble sculptures of Hindu Gods and Goddesses attract.

Triveni Ghat

Among all the tourist attractions, Triveni Ghat is one of the best places to visit near Haridwar and Rishikesh. The Ghat is situated at the confluence of three sacred rivers Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati, where pilgrims visit this place to take a holy dip at Triveni Ghat before visiting the famous temples of Rishikesh. A wonderful sight can also be seen here during the evening aarti, a ceremony in which the whole ghat is lit up with lamps accompanied by lights, drums, chanting.

How to reach Bharat Mata Mandir

By Air- The nearest airport to Bharat Mata Mandir is Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun which is at a distance of 41 km from Haridwar. From here you can easily reach this temple by using local transport services or taxi.

By Train- The Nearest railway station from Bharat Mata Temple is Haridwar railway station which is at a distance of few kms. From here also you can easily reach this temple by using local transport services or taxi.

By Road- Haridwar is very easily accessible by road from Delhi, Haryana, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh. State transport buses are connected to these routes. Haridwar is 222 kms away from Delhi and you can reach here after completing a bus journey of five to six hours.
