Basukinath Mandir Dumka, – Guide 

Dumka district of Jharkhand is the home of Basukinath Mandir. About 25 km northwest of Dumka, it is situated on the Deoghar-Dumka State Highway. For Hindus, it is a sacred site. The main attraction of this place is the Basukinath Temple. Many stories have developed around Basukinath Mandir, and it is believed that these stories represent the establishment of the Lord Shiva temple that is still in existence today. This temple is One of the oldest temples.

History of this Temple

According to history, the court of Baba Bhole Nath is situated in the Basukinath Mandir. Shiva and Parvati temples are opposite to each other in Basukinath Dham.  This temple is about 150 years old. This temple was built in 1596 by a tribal Basaki Tatme.

It is believed that the court of Lord Shiva is situated in the Basukinath Mandir. The court of Baba Bhole Nath is situated in the Basukinath temple. Here, the temples dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati are built facing each other. Devotees are urged to move away from the gate when it is opened as it is believed that Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati meet during this time.

Basukinath Mandir Timings

Basukinath Mandir remains open throughout the year. This temple opens at 3:00 AM in the morning and close at 4:00 PM in the evening. Night time is from sunset to 8:00 pm. The temple remains closed for Bhog from 12:00 to 2:00 PM. Aarti Timings of this temple is in Evening from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

Place to visit near this Temple

Shiv Ganga Talab

Shiv Ganga Talab is located near Baba Basukinath Dham in Dumka. This pond is very beautiful. There are stairs around the pond. People come here and take bath and go to see Lord Shiva.

Shiv Pahar Temple

Shiv Pahar Temple is a tourist place of Dumka. It is a famous religious place in Dumka district. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. This temple is built on a hill. There are stairs to reach the temple.

After reaching the temple, we meet to have darshan of Lord Shiva. There is also a snake temple near the temple. Here people meet to have darshan of the serpent deity. There is a huge crowd here during Shivratri.

Massanjore Dam

Massanjore Dam is the tourist place of Dumka. Massanjore Dam is built on the Mayurakshi River in Dumka district. This dam is mainly built for flood control. This dam is spread over a very large area.

This dam is very beautiful. A 22 MW hydroelectric plant has been installed in this dam. At the time of monsoon, you will get to see the view here very tremendous.

How to reach Basukinath Mandir

By Air- The nearest airport from Basukinath Mandir is Birsa Munda International Airport, Ranchi which is located at a distance of 250 km. From here you can easily reach this temple by using local transport services or taxi.

By Train- The nearest railway station is Basukinath Railway Station which is located in Dumka district of Jharkhand. It is situated at a distance of 2 km from the temple. From here you can easily reach this temple by using local transport services or taxi.

By Road- State owned and commercial buses take you easily from Kolkata/Howrah to Basukinath, Deoghar. From there you have to take auto rickshaw, taxi to reach Baba Basukinath Mandir. You can also avail direct taxis to reach there.
