Ambernath Shiv Mandir – Guide

Ambernath Shiv Mandir of Maharashtra is located near Mumbai. The location of this temple is Ambernath. Its other name is Ambareshwar. Lord Shiva is worshiped in this temple. According to an inscription found in the temple, Raja Mambani of Shilahat built it in 1060 AD.

The local people believe that this temple belongs to the Pandava dynasty. This temple is a wonderful example of Hindu sculpture from the past. There is no other temple in the world like the Ambernath Shiva Temple, which was built in the middle of the eleventh century.

History of this Temple

Raja Mambani got Ambernath Shiv Mandir built in 1060 AD. The temple of Pandava era is another name of this temple. It is told about the temple that there is no other temple like it in the world. There are many natural wonders near Ambernath Shiva Temple, which contribute to its growing popularity.

Ambernath Shiv Mandir has 20 steps leading to the main hall called Gabhara, which includes a Shivalinga in the centre. On the day of Mahashivaratri, a big fair is organized at Ambernath to seek the blessings of Lord Shiva. There are two Nandis outside this temple. Situated on the banks of river Valdhan, this temple is surrounded by tamarind and mango trees. The architecture of the temple is of exceptional quality. An ancient inscription of 1060 AD was also discovered here.

Ambernath Shiv Mandir Timings

Ambernath Shiv Mandir remains open for darshan throughout the day. A huge fair is held here on the occasion of Shivratri in the month of Magha. This temple opens at 8AM in the morning and close at 9PM in the evening.

Chikhloli Dam, located between Ambernath and Badlapur, is a popular spot to cool off in summers. During winters, it becomes extremely congested and serves as a popular weekend getaway for the locals. Small waterfalls where you can take a swim and click tons of pictures with your friends and family.

Haji Malanggarh Fort

Haji Malanggarh is a fort in Thane district, 15 km from Kalyan. This is a holy place known as Malang or Haji Malang. Shilahar Raja had got the Malanggarh fort built. There is an ancient temple of Machhindranath in this fort. Haji Malang is the tomb of a Muslim monk. Baba Malang Samadhi is situated on the border of Thane and Raigarh districts. There is a very high mountain on the fort. There are water tanks and towers on the fort. Kurla-Mumbai area, Panvel entrance and Matheran area can be seen from the top of the fort.
