Siddheshwar Temple, Overview
Siddheshwar Temple is Situated in the middle of a lake ahead of Bhuikot Fort, Solapur. This temple is sacred to Lord Siddheshwar, who is believed to be an incarnation of Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu. The temple is highly revered by the devotees as it is the place where Sri Siddheshwar attained Samadhi.
The main temple complex has a beautiful sanctum sanctorum, which houses the idol of Siddheshwar. Also there are 68 Shivalingas in the main courtyard, which were installed by Lord Siddheshwar.
History of this Temple
According to history, the Siddheswar temple was built by a yogi and a devotee of Sri Mallikarjuna of Srisailam, Sri Siddharameswara. He built this temple and got 68 Shivlings built in the temple as per the instructions of his Guru.
It is said that Sri Siddheswara, who is also considered to be the Six Prophet of Lingayat religion, believed that the birth of this saint brought prosperity to the city and the deity is able to bless the devotees.
Here the Amrit Linga and Lord Ganesha temples deserve special mention. The silver plated Nandi, and shrines of Vithoba and Lord Rukmini as well as many other deities are a part of the temple. There is a marble tomb of Siddheshwar in the centre of the temple. Here Maha-Prasad is offered to all the devotees.

Best time to visit this temple
The best time to visit the temple would be during the Makar Sankranti festival during which grand festivities are celebrated for three days. Also, a fair called Gadda Yatra is organized in the temple for fifteen days.

Akkalkot Swami Maharaj Temple
Akkalkot Temple is one of the most famous places to visit in Solapur and this was built in the memory of Shri Samarth Maharaj. There is an ancient banyan tree in the temple premises which is the most important attraction of this temple.
Akkalkot Temple is an amalgamation of five temples which are situated close to each other. The temple is blessed with a beautiful architecture and comprises of around 97 pillars.
The Great Indian Bustard Sanctuary
The Great Indian Bustard Sanctuary is one of the largest bird sanctuaries in India and a paradise for bird lovers. Famous for the mighty bird called Great Indian Bustard, this bird sanctuary is spread over 8100 sq. km of land around Solapur.
Apart from the Great Indian Bustard, the sanctuary also houses some exotic birds such as the Eurasian Pigeon and reptiles such as the Monitor Lizard.
