According to some media outlets, a curfew has been imposed in Mumbai City until January 2. But it’s not true; the news is that until December 17, Section 144 has been imposed in Mumbai City. The decision has been taken to ensure peace in the city and avoid any disturbance to public order. The Mumbai Police has also issued guidelines for the public regarding Section 144 in the city. People will not be able to gather in one place till December 17. Apart from this, action will be taken if more than five people appear together. Schools and colleges remain open.
Police said that during Section 144 in Mumbai, there will be special vigilance in public places. Any kind of demonstrations, sloganeering, or meetings are prohibited. Apart from this, weapons have also been banned from December 3 to December 17.
What is in the circular of Mumbai police?
Issuing the circular, Deputy Commissioner of the Mission Department of the Mumbai Police, Vishal Thakur, has ordered that Section 144 should be strictly followed. He said that until December 17, there is a ban on any kind of gathering, procession, or demonstration in the city. Apart from this, people will not be able to use loudspeakers either. The police will take legal action if rules are broken.
What is prohibited during Section 144?
- Large-scale social gatherings are prohibited around places of public entertainment.
- Bursts of firecrackers, playing loudspeakers, playing musical instruments, bands sloganeering and demonstrations are banned in public places.
