DK Shivakumar could float his own party in Karnataka

Shivakumar party

It is a wise advice that when your own house is on fire, you should not look forward to extinguish the fire of the city. Apparently, this aptly fits on Congress party. Amid the claims of Bharat Jodo Yatra, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is facing massive challenge to keep his flock together. The party leaders are fighting among themselves and their personal ego tussles have escalated to the point of no return.

Resort Politics to Report Politics

Envy is one of biggest enemies of politicians. If their envy takes the form of political fight for supremacy, then it is a sign of impending disaster for any political party. Presently, the same has been happening for the Congress party in Karnataka. Two of its tall leaders Dk ShivaKumar and Siddharamaiah have been rallying their campaigns to show them in positive light and emerge as the tallest leader of Congress in the state. A pure political fight of Supremacy.

On several occasions, KPCC Party President Shivakumar have displayed his aspirations of becoming the CM of the state. Interestingly, Former chief minister Siddaramaiah also doesn’t want to relinquish his claims on the throne in case there comes any opportunity.

There have been incidences where the top brass of the party has tried to resolve the differences. The prominent of it being the incident on 13th of October. Back then, Rahul Gandhi climbed up the water tank in  Chitradurga district with both the leaders and waved the national flag. But by the end of Karnataka phase of the Bharat Jodo Yatra, DK Shivakumar said, “I will get a report on who did how much work”.

He is expected to submit the report to the party high command. He added that the yatra happened because everybody cooperated and he had the added responsibility as he is the party president.

The tussle for Power

The tussle between Former Chief Minister of Karnataka Siddaramaiah and the current Karnataka State Party President DK Shivakumar is well known to everyone. Shivakumar and his aspiration for the chair of chief minister is apparent.

By eulogising himself, it was clear whom he was attacking. The rift between these two camps is visible.

Earlier as well, to be in the good books of Rahul Gandhi, DK Shivakumar pro actively worked during the ‘Resort Politics’ in the state. Even Rahul Gandhi noticed it and Siddaramaiah’s camp did not like it much.  His current ‘Report’ comment will further create commotions in the already divided Congress party in the state. This may create divisions at the Karyakarta level. As both the camps have been trying to pull the party and Karyakarta towards their side.

Superiority Complex

Congress has a long history of in-fighting and splits. Since its formation, there have not been any decade in which Congress has not suffered a vertical split. Apparently, the development suggests that DK Shivakumar may follow the path of his ex-party colleagues like Ghulam Nabi Azad or Captain Amarinder Singh. He has several striking similarities with the duo. He has not been on the same page either with the senior party functionaries or with the karyakartas. It is often alleged that he is non-cooperative with Karyakartas and have supremist tendency.

But if it happens, it won’t be easy for him as well. Altough, any thing is possible in politics and it is claimed to be the art of making impossible possible. But owing to his past tussles with BJP and JD(S), he may not find any takers for himself there. So, if the tussle keeps on escalating, he will be left with only one choice that is to float his own political front.

But that is for sure that if he goes against Congress in his ego tussle with Former CM Siddharamaiah, it would be catastrophic for the grand old party. He has command on ground particularly in areas where Vokaligas have prominent presence, so he can further weaken the Congress party in the state.
