Dear H1B holders in the US, come back home. New India awaits you

H1B visa

On the face of an atypical and indecisive macroeconomic dilemma, the H1B visa holders from India face the charade of the ‘Yankee folks’ in the US. Amidst the layoff row, despite the continuous assurances by the US authorities, the ‘impasse over the visa policy’ ceases to change for good. The crisis offers mind boggling erudition to millions of Indians providing cheaper services as compared to their American counterparts.

However, despite the huge economic significance which the Indian folks hold with respect to the US economy, thousands are being laid off. Meta plans to send away 11,000 employees, while Amazon suspends 10,000 and Twitter discards 3700 Indian workforce. To add to the misery, the ones fired have time of just 60 days to find a new job and revitalize their H1B Visa or deport back to India.

Separation package in lieu of selfless devotion

The US economy has blossomed over the years due to the selfless devotion of the Indians working in the country. On the contrary, these warriors of the Silicon Valley are reduced to suffering the worst nightmare arising out of the mass layoffs.

The contemporary crisis arising out of the layoff policies highlights the downturn of the capitalist hegemony of the country. It is a wakeup call for the Indians who moved out of their homeland to find a home in the US. Their years of selfless devotion which significantly aided the State Treasury of the US through taxes paid coupled with the radical economic growth has paid them off by getting them fired. In addition, they have been subjected to mockery by their fellow Americans.

One tweet said, “90% of people that were laid off this week by American tech companies were Indians on H1B visas. One week they are bragging about taking over the west, the next, they are getting laid off & kicked out of the country. Must be karma.” Meanwhile, another American wrote on twitter, “It’s such a pleasure seeing Indians living a nightmare, not the American Dream in the US!”

Nightmares of US vs. India of Dreams

The Indians in the United States, who migrated to the country with the aspiration to live the life of their dreams, are subjected to the nightmare of deportation. The mass lay off policy adopted by various multinational corporations would greatly hamper the possibilities of living in the US for the folks surviving on the H1B visa. They would be exposed to the catastrophe adjunct with the expiration of the tenure of their visas.

Meanwhile, the ‘Yankee’ Americans stooped to an all-time low, by showcasing the deep ingrained racist approach by shaming the native Indians. The issue highlights the deep-rooted hate which the Americans have for the Indians.

On the contrary, the Indians in the US should move out of their imperialist enthrallment and take the layoff crisis as a blessing in disguise. They can repatriate to their homeland and can avail the benefits of Startup India and Stand-Up India.

The business ecosystem of New India under the leadership of PM Modi provides tremendous possibilities for the erudite workforce that moved to the US looking for better opportunities. However, with the US economy heading towards recession, India can certainly offer better professional opportunities to the residents living abroad as well as the NRIs.

Abrogate the Brain Drain of the past

New India under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi has radically been successful in bringing about drastic changes with respect to the opportunity landscape available in the country. The fired employees of the US can certainly contribute considerably in coming up with new startups in the nation. It is a great opportunity to reinstate the enormous brain drain out of India that took place in the previous years.

However, it is for the government of the day to come up with policies that smoothens the transition for the residents to return back. The move can prove to be a win-win situation as it would facilitate information and technology exchange alongside playing down the miseries of the folks fired abroad.
