An overpriced Akshay Kumar needs to perform or perish before Kartik Aaryan Tiwari

Hera Pheri 3 Akshay Kumar

Akshay Kumar out form Hera Pheri 3: Experimentation, adaptation and Performance are the only guarantees that can keep you relevant in this fast-changing world. It applies to every field be it Sports, Business or Entertainment. Apparently, the Entertainment industry is going through a churning process. Content driven cinema is challenging the previous set norms in Bollywood. The culture of ‘stardom’ has gone for a toss. The new actors are seizing this moment and toppling the superstars of yester-years.

Lost track of reality

It is often said that Reminiscing of past success can hinder your sight. Apparently, Akshay Kumar is paying a heavy price for this. Several of his decisions hint that Mr Khiladi Kumar has lost sight of his current standing. His previous five outings namely Ram Setu, Raksha Bandhan, Samrat Prithviraj, Cuttputli and Bachchhan Pandey have failed miserably at the box office. But it seems that his troubles are far from over.

It is reported that directors and producers are unhappy with Akshay’s ‘self-delusional’ remarks even after giving back-to-back flops. Many of them have announced to cut ties and replace him. Ironically, he is being removed from those franchises who owe their success to him.

These franchises include Housefull, Hera Pheri, Welcome and Awara Paagal Deewana. It is an open secret that these comedy-driven series were a superhit because of the comic timing and acting skills of its star cast, particularly Akshay Kumar. But as they say time never remains the same and nothing can be taken for granted in this highly competitive world.

Hera Pheri 3: loss of Akshay Kumar is Kartik’s gain

There is no smoke without fire. Evidently, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 was THE movie that led to the foundation of this changing trend. The producers made a risky bet by replacing Akshay Kumar with Kartik Aaryan. It was a risky bet as ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ had a cult following and people had high expectations from the sequel. There were changes that replacing Akshay Kumar may boomerang on the movie producers. But the risk paid off and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 was a smashing hit at the box office.

Audiences stamped their authority on the risky bet that infused confidence in directors and producers. It then opened the floodgates for a possible replacement of Akshay Kumar with Kartik Aryan Tiwari.

Since then, many producers have been strongly mulling on the idea whether to cast Akshay Kumar at his demanded movie fee or rope in Kartik Aaryan which will leave them with more resources to deploy them elsewhere. For example, they can strengthen the storyline or the supporting star cast.

As per media reports, this is exactly what happened with the film production team of Hera Pheri 3. Reportedly, Akshay Kumar was replaced from the Hera Pheri 3 for demanding a high movie fees of Rs 90 crore while in the end the team casted Kartik Aaryan for a deal of Rs 30 crore.

Evidently, Akshay Kumar also confirmed his hard exit from the Hera Pheri franchise. But while confirming the news, he shot in his own foot. He stated that Hera Pheri has been an important part of his career but he was not satisfied with the screenplay and the script. I was not happy with it and left the franchise.

Now, it seems that the remarks have started to hurt him. As per media report, Film Producer Firoz Nadiadwala was hurt and disappointed that Akshay Kumar bad-mouthed about Hera Phera 3. It is reported that he has decided to show Akshay Kumar the exit door from several of his projects after that snide remark about Hera Pheri 3. The official announcement may come soon that Awara Paagal Deewana 2 and Welcome 3 will be made without Akshay Kumar. There are credible reports that in these films as well, he will be replaced by Kartik Aaryan Tiwari.

These reports suggest that Khiladi Kumar has either moved past his prime or is suffering from the classic case of quantity over quality. He was good till he experimented with his craft. It is not that he is totally cut-off from reality. There were reports that he reduced his movie fee by around 40% but he should realise that without adapting to the changed reality he will keep losing his work to actors like Kartik Aaryan Tiwari.
