From Manmohan’s Siachen offer to Pakistan to Rajnath’s northern conquest- India has come a long way

Gilgit and Baltistan India

It seems that the bad time for the ‘Aman ki Asha’ brigade is not ending in the immediate future. The Modi government is carrying forward its successful policy – “terror and talks can’t go together”. In addition to that, it is carrying along the development works in the serene hills of Jammu and Kashmir. This tough and human-development centric stance of the Modi government on National security, sovereignty and integrity is stark opposite to UPA’s dilly dallying stance and abject surrender to “peace brigades”.

Raksha Mantri calls out Pakistan’s grave human rights abuses in POK

On 27th of October, the Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh attended the commemorative event held to mark the 75th anniversary of Shaurya Diwas. Notably, 27th of October is celebrated as Infantry Day (Shaurya Diwas). In 1947, on this day, the Indian army fought Pakistani invaders and repelled them from Jammu and Kashmir. (Had it not been PM Nehru’s grave UN blunder, the Indian army would have settled the Kashmir issue once and for all.)

Honouring the supreme sacrifices of the brave hearts, RM Singh paid his tributes to the martyrs who sacrificed their life to liberate the region from brutal attack of the invaders.

Further, he stressed that Pakistan showed its true colours soon after the horrific partition took place.

Speaking at the event, the Raksha Mantri lambasted the so-called Human Rights activists for providing shielding terrorists and their sympathisers in the garb of human rights. He categorically stressed that these human rights group levels false accusations of human rights abuses at the hands of armed forces but went into hiding when in reality, terrorism snatches human rights of ordinary Kashmiri citizens and armed forces.

The Union Minister Rajnath Singh also launched a scathing attack on Pakistan and called its farce of Human rights. He highlighted the grave human rights abuses happening in the unauthorised and illegally occupied regions in POK. He also warned Pakistan that it would have to face dire consequences for these human rights atrocities in POK.

Rajnath Singh went on to praise PM Modi’s leadership for abrogating Article 370. Additionally, he remembered the unifying vision of late Shyama Prasad Maurya who gave up his life for the call of unifying Jammu and Kashmir with the rest of the country without any conditions attached.

India’s Northern walk to end only after reaching Gilgit, Baltistan

RM Rajnath Singh emphasised that the Modi government has been ensuring a faster development of the region. He went further to make a bold claim that this “northern walk” is just the beginning that would only culminate after reaching Gilgit, Baltistan. He also reiterated India’s firm stand on POK as stated in the 1994 Parliamentary resolution on Kashmir.

He said, “Now we have just started walking towards the north. Our journey will be completed only when we implement the resolution passed unanimously in the Indian Parliament on February 22, 1994, and accordingly, we will reach our remaining parts, such as Gilgit and Baltistan”.

He highlighted that the journey will only be completed when the refugees of 1947 will get justice and their ancestors’ lands will be returned to them with respect. He stressed that he is convinced of the strength of the people and our armed forces. Adding that the day is not far when all this will happen.

This is not the first time that Raksha Mantri or the Modi government has reiterated its firm commitment to taking back POK, Gilgit and Baltistan from the illegal occupation of Pakistan. At the time of abrogation of Article 370, HM Amit Shah gave resounding assurances of taking back POK and every inch of land from the illegal occupation of occupying forces be it Pakistan or China.

Apart from that several Union Ministers have reiterated their commitment for implementing the 1994 parliamentary resolution on Kashmir.

Dr Manmohan’s abject surrender for “Peace”

Contrary to the Modi government’s firm stand, the Congress-led UPA government followed the cowardice and submissive “Aman ki Asha” strategy in the name of restoring peace (at what cost – National Interest, security and even territorial sovereignty?).

Even after the havoc of Pakistan-sponsored terrorism, Manmohan government kept holding peace and trade talks with Pakistan. Within months of the deadliest 26/11 terror attack in Mumbai, the Congress government held negotiations talk with Pakistan rather than pressing hard to get Justice for the dastardly terror attack and hold the perpetrators of attack, based in Pakistan, accountable for the terrorist attack.

However, the lowest of low, even from Congress’ standard, hit in 2007. The UPA government held secret back-channel talks with Pakistan to hold negotiations to frame a draft resolution on Kashmir. In this draft proposal for usher in peace in the region, there were ideas that both sides would drop their claims on the rest of the valley and let the status-quo prevail (not redraw boundaries). This would mean accepting Pakistan’s sovereignty on POK (an abject surrender) all for achieving peace.

These secret meetings were held between PM Manmohan Singh from the Indian side and President Musharraf from the Pakistani side. This was disclosed by Satinder K Lamba, who was then the special envoy of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

He said, “Pakistan agreed to ditch its position seeking a Kashmir solution through the implementation of a UN resolution for a referendum and agreed not to redraw borders during secret negotiations with India in 2007.”

In early part of 2012 as well, the UPA government wanted to please Pakistan to ensure PEACE. It pushed for demilitarisation of Siachen which was firmly opposed by the Armed forces. Had the government got success in this grave blunder, it would have gifted the highest and coldest battlefield to the Pakistani Army on a silver platter.

It seems that these despicable ploys in the name of ‘Aman ki Asha’ draws inspiration from Jawaharlal Nehru. He notoriously once said that Ladakh is a useless uninhabitable land. Not a blade of grass grows there. Congress should have realised the evil intentions of Pakistan and that there is a red line even for peace talks, that is, Sovereignty of the nation. But the recent firm and affirmative stand of the Modi government towards the implementation of 1994 parliamentary resolution on Kashmir ensures that the day is not far when POK, Gilgit and Baltistan would be freed from the illegal occupation and oppression of Pakistan.
