Rana Ayyub’s old words come to bite her as she cries foul over ‘Hum Do, Humare Baarah’

Hum Do Humare Baarah film poster

The NFHS-5 report stated some facts about the fertility rates among different communities; however, ‘investigative journalists’ like Rana Ayyub pay no attention to such surveys. All that she does is raise the self-proclaimed issue of Islamophobia and play the victim card at the drop of a hat. Well, this time in the case of the film Hum Do Humare Baarah, the hypocrisy of Rana Ayyub lies exposed.

Hum Do, Humare Baarah raises the issue of population

Films with imbibed social messages find a special connection with the Indian audiences. From Mother India to Padman, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha and Janhit mein Jarri, filmmakers have been investing their time and money for such delights. The next name in the line is Hum Do Humare Baarah.

On August 5, filmmaker Kamal Chandra announced his upcoming film, Hum Do Humare Baarah that focuses on contentious issue of population explosion within the Muslim community, with Anu Kapoor as the protagonist. The poster shows Annu Kapoor as the head of a Muslim family of 11 children, while his pregnant wife stands alongside him.

Islamists cry foul, with Rana Ayyub leading the pack

The movie title was accompanied by the tagline ‘Jaldi hi Cheen Ko Piche Chhod Denge’; that translates to ‘Soon we will leave China behind’. As soon as the film poster was out, the Islamists started crying foul as the pack was led by none other than the alleged journalist Rana Ayuub.

Ayyub cried foul over the film Hum Do Humare Baarah, took to Twitter and questioned the authority of censor board over allowing the film. Ayyub wrote, “How does the vendor board allow a film like this that depicts Muslims as the reason for population explosion and extends the relentless attack on the community.”

Ayyub left no stone unturned to denounce the socially relevant film as ‘Islamophobic’. She further wrote, “The brazen hate and Islamophobia when they use the image of a Muslim family and call it ‘Hum Do Hamare Barah’.”

And there was a pattern, as another one with Twitter handle Kamran Chida wrote, “The Sanghi promoted, Bigoted film that depicts Muslims as the reason for population explosion.”

Rana Ayyub’s hypocrisy lies exposed

Although, Rana Ayyub is a hypocrite who thinks she can peddle her agenda every now and then and can cry foul on any issue. However, this is an era of social media and with the advent of social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter, it has become tough for our politicians, journalists, film stars and other celebrities to get away with lies and double standards. The netizens dug up an old tweet of Rana Ayyub that she wrote during the outrage over the film PK.

While Ayyub is crying over a theme of a film now, back in 2014, she believed in freedom of expression. This seems quite evident from her tweet where she is praising the Supreme Court for rejecting the plea seeking ban on Aamir Khan’s PK. She wrote, “SC rejects plea to ban Aamir Khan’s film ‘PK’, says “If you don’t like, don’t watch.”

Dear Rana Ayyub, read some data here

While the issue may be revolving around what Rana said back in 2014 regarding the film PK, that blatantly insulted Hindu Devi Devtas, and how she has turned completely now, when a film is all set to hit the theatres based on an issue of Muslim community. The actual point here is the issue of population explosion, and let’s substantiates it with some data.

As per the NFHS-5, the TFR (Total Fertility Rate) for Muslims in 2019-21 was 2.36, that means 100 women gave birth to 236 kids, adding up to more than two and less than three children by each women. Thus, the Muslims with their comparatively higher fertility rate still continue to replace themselves as well as the Hindus. This is simply a big challenge keeping in mind the prevalent practice of polygamy in the Muslim community. Also, there is still a major chunk of Muslim population that is extremely backward and not prone to using contraceptives or educating themselves about the perils of regenerating at higher levels. Dear Rana Ayyub, do read and analyse some data.
