Russia proves its friendship yet again, foils Erdogan’s anti-India plan

India Russia

Since the time of the USSR to modern day Putin’s Russia, the world’s largest democracy and the city of St. Petersburg have maintained close ties. India’s association with Russia is known fact for almost 7 decades now. From military imports to timely intervention during the 1971 war, Russia has proven to be an all weather friend of India. Once again, Russia has proved its friendship by foiling Erdogan’s anti-India plans.

Russia arrests ISIS bomber planning attack on India

Russia has detained a terrorist who was planning to attack India. The terrorist belongs to the radical Islamic terrorist group ISIS. He was recruited as a suicide bomber whose agenda was to travel to India and launch a suicide attack against “one of the representative of the ruling circles of India.”

As per Russia’s TASS, Yesterday, a member was taken into custody by Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) planning to avenge the insult of Prophet Muhammad. A video was also released by the agency in which the terrorist can be seen confessing that he swore allegiance to the IS Amir and underwent special training. The man said, “I was supposed to be given things there to commit a terrorist attack at the behest of the IS for insulting the Prophet Muhammad.”

The Turkey Angle

As per his confession, the terrorist is a resident of Central Asia. He was in Turkey from April to June where he was recruited by one of his leaders of IS as a suicide bomber. They processed it remotely using Telegram and at personal meetings in Istanbul, the agency said.

The man apprehended by the Russian agency had arrived from Turkey to Russia. He was about to travel to India from Russia to “commit a high profile terrorist attack.” Travelling directly from Turkey would have placed the terrorist under the radar of security agencies, Turkey being on the Grey List of FATF.

It was earlier alleged that Turkey enjoys a close association with terrorist organisations, Daesh (ISIS) in particular, in order to fulfil its own ambitions and agendas. Erdogan’s close associations with terrorist groups have also been confirmed by various reports.

Turkey has become a breeding ground for terrorists who receive funding, support, and training in the country’s territory, courtesy ‘wannabe’ Khalifa, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

What is on India’s plate right now?

As many geopolitical strategists elaborate, the ties between Russia and Turkey have been improving since the dissolution of the Soviet Union. The fact of the matter is that Russia is the largest energy provider of Turkey. Turkey along with India was also one of the buyers of S-400. It was due to this purchase that Turkey was sanctioned by the West.

Despite economic and defence ties with Turkey, Moscow came to New Delhi’s support and not only arrested the terrorist, but also shared his associations. After signing 28 pacts to counter terrorism in 2021, India and Russia have been agressively battling terrorism together.

Also, Russia had previously favoured India over China during the Galwan clashes. At every instance, Russia has proven its friendship with India.

India must arm twist turkey

The case in point is now Turkey. Turkey’s brotherhood with Pakistan and Erdogan’s repeated calls for the ‘Kashmir dispute’ to be settled within the UN had already led to a flurry of tit-for-tat responses between India and Turkey.

Now, the terrorist’s connection from Erdogan’s land has provided an opportunity for India to open its arsenal against Erdogan on the global stage. India may have forgotten Erdogan’s sins of interfering in India’s domestic issues, but it will not let Turkey go this time. As the biggest democracy on this planet, India cannot allow any nation plan against its security and sovereignty.
