Sanjay Bangar Biography and Career

Early Career in Cricket and Entry to International

In the 2000–01 campaign, Railways advanced to the Ranji Trophy final but fell to Baroda. The next year, they improved and won the competition by defeating Baroda.

International Career
Sanjay Bangar played the position of number 7 and hit 100 unanswered against Zimbabwe in just his second Test at Nagpur.
After some subpar performances by Wasim Jaffer during the 2002 England tour, he was elevated to start the innings at Headingley. In response, he delivered his most significant performance for India, scoring a methodical 68 on an opening day in an essential partnership with Rahul Dravid under challenging swinging and seaming conditions.
Later in the same game, he also contributed with two crucial wickets that helped India secure a rare away innings victory.
After being selected for the Indian team for the 2003 Cricket World Cup, Bangar’s performances for his nation started to wane. He played in a total of 12 Test matches and 15 One Day Internationals until making his final appearance for India in 2004. He significantly aided India’s victories in seven tests.

Later Career in Cricket
Later, he was named the captain of Railways, and in 2004–2005, he helped his team win the Irani Trophy and Ranji Trophy, two significant championships. In 2005–2006, he also guided the Railways team to a national Ranji Trophy One Day Championship.
He is only one of two players, along with Vijay Hazare, who have amassed 6,000 runs and 200 wickets in the Ranji Trophy. In the first IPL season, he played for the Deccan Chargers. In the 2009 IPL, he was a member of the Kolkata Knight Riders.
