Batla House 2.0: No encounters this time but terror sympathisers are crying again

The preparations for the 75th Independence Day are running in full swing. For this, the National Capital territory is turning into an impregnable fortress. The security agencies have heightened their vigil to thwart any desperate measures by anti-India forces. Apparently, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested an ‘active ISIS member’ just ahead of the Independence Day celebrations.

Educated ‘Jihadi’

The infamous Batla house is back in the news, that too for carrying out anti-India activity. Evidently, on the 6th of August, the NIA raided a hideout of a suspected terrorist in the Batla house area, in New Delhi. During the raid, the investigating agency seized several incriminating documents.

The agency subsequently arrested terror accused identified as Mohsin Ahmad Khan. He is claimed to be a first-year engineering student of Jamia Millia University. Mohsin Ahmad allegedly had links with the dreaded terrorist organisation ISIS. He used to funnel funds through cryptocurrency to ISIS terrorists.

The NIA in its official statement said, “On 6th of August, NIA conducted search operations in the residential premises of accused Mohsin Ahmad, presently residing near Jogabai Extension in Batla house, New Delhi and permanent resident of Patna in Bihar and subsequently arrested him in the case pertaining to online and on-ground activities of ISIS”.

NIA on August 6 conducted searches at the residential premises of one Mohsin Ahmad, presently residing at Jogabai Extention, Batla house, Delhi, and subsequently arrested him in the case pertaining to online and on-ground activities of ISIS, says the agency.

As per agency officials, Mohsin Ahmad Khan is a highly radicalised and active member of Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). The agency further informed that the accused had been raising funds from terrorist sympathisers in India and abroad. He would then funnel this illicit fund to terrorists in Syria in the form of cryptocurrency.

The agency said, “NIA on 6th August, arrested a radicalised and active member of Islamic State (ISIS) from his residence in Delhi for his involvement in the collection of funds for the terrorist outfit from sympathisers in India as well as abroad and sending it to Syria and other places in form of cryptocurrency.”

Earlier, as per officials, the NIA took suo-moto cognisance and registered a case on June 25, 2022.

It is important to note that the information to the NIA was given by the students studying in Delhi’s Jamia Millia University. The students had informed the NIA that Mohsin Ahmad was trying to influence many students with the ideology of Islamic State.

“Jihadi love”: lesser known tool for radicalisation

According to a report in News18, during interrogation Ahmed told the agencies that he did engineering preparation from Kota two years ago. During his stay in Kota, he came in contact with the IS operatives in the Middle East and Syria. During radicalisation training, a 28-year-old woman who was an ISIS operative asked Mohsin Ahmed to collect money for jihad.

He further revealed that he fell in love with the woman which they refer as “jihadi love”. The woman radicalised him to send the fund to Alhol camp in Syria through cryptocurrency. The Alhol camp is for women jihadi terrorists.

The tentacles of the ISIS terrorist is not only limited to Batla house area of Delhi. It has made deep rooted connections in several states. Apparently, on 31st July, the NIA said that it conducted searches at 13 locations of suspects across six states in the case. The accused have been trying to incite the public to fan separatist tendencies in India.

Shameless politicisation

Politicians in India don’t even spare matters of national security. They try to twist it according to their political agenda. Apparently, after the arrest of the terror accused Mohsin Ahmad Khan, terror sympathisers have come out from their hideouts. They are playing ugly politics over the arrest. The usual suspects are out in the open playing the victim card and shamelessly coming in defence of the terror accused.

Evidently, the controversial AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan has come out shamelessly in defence of the terror accused Mohsin Ahmed Khan. As usual he started crying foul and played the religion card. He accused the BJP and RSS of maligning Muslims in the name of ISIS.

Also Read: Amanatullah Khan going in big time

He said, “The arrest of Jamia student Mohsin by the NIA is completely wrong and unconstitutional. BJP and RSS have found a new way to malign and harass Muslims in the name of ISIS, Mohsin is innocent and has no relation with any anti-social element. Mohsin should be released soon.”

— Amanatullah Khan AAP (@KhanAmanatullah) August 7, 2022

This is not the first time that politicians are coming out to give moral and political shields to terrorists. The Samajwadi party questioned the Batla House encounter to woo Muslim votes. It even tried to convert the Batla house encounter into a polling issue to be used in elections. Parties like SP didn’t relent in their appeasement politics even when court’s found nothing wrong in the Batla house encounter.

Additionally, who can forget the height of appeasement done by Congress back then on this issue? To woo Muslims, Union law minister Salman Khurshid had said that pictures of the Batla House encounter case had brought tears to the eyes of Congress President Sonia Gandhi.

It is unfortunate for the nation that politicians have no shame in compromising with national security for their short term gains. They have to understand that people of India abhor ugly politicisation of national security. The Indian Population has already rejected appeasement politics a long time back. They should realise that if they keep on crying for the dreaded terrorists, then they will keep on loosing and will be trapped in an endless cycle of whining out about their political fates.
