Jharkhand CM

In decades there comes a leader, who wakes up the conscience of the masses. For the state carved out based on Tribal identity, Jharkhand, that leader is former CM Raghubar Das. Raghubar Das not only pulled out the state from the political turmoil but also gifted the first stable government to the state. Not only this, his government curbed the menace of Naxalism, conversion, and illiteracy among others. With every step, his government inched towards the growth and development of Jharkhand. At the inauguration of AIIMS, Deoghar and Airport, the people of Jharkhand, today, are witnessing the fruits of labour that the former government of Jharkhand led by Raghubar Das.

PM Modi unveils projects in Jharkhand

PM Narendra Modi is in Jharkhand, today, to lay the foundation stone of several development initiatives and inaugurate several developmental projects, worth Rs 16,800 crore. PM Modi inaugurated the in-patient department and operation theatre services at AIIMS, Deoghar. Along with that, PM flagged off a Kolkata-bound Indigo flight from the newly constructed Deoghar Airport, the second in the state after Ranchi airport. The direct airport access at Deoghar, which is an important religious destination in the state, will contribute to regional economic development and employment generation. The AIIMS Deoghar has been erected at a cost of Rs 1100 crores while the airport has cost Rs 400 crore.

The foundation stone of both projects was laid on 25 May 2018, during the tenure of then CM Raghubar Das. Both the grand projects are results of the BJP’s double-engine government, with CM Raghubar Das at the helm of affairs of the state at the time. The development of the Jharkhand state was the singular focus of former CM Raghubar Das. Go-ahead to projects like AIIMS and Airport were some of the first decisions of the Raghubar cabinet.

Raghubar Das: The first CM of Jharkhand to complete his term

Former CM of Jharkhand rose to prominence from a humble background. Born in a house of a middle-class labourer, Das entered politics during Jayaprakash Narayan’s Total Revolution. Das joined the Bhartiya Janata Party as one of the founding members and served as the deputy CM in the JMM-BJP government.

BJP, for the first time, got a whooping majority in the state and picked Raghubar Das, a non-tribal leader, which resulted in uproars, which later turned into praises. Raghubar Das was the first CM of Jharkhand to complete his term in office until the mandate of 2019.

Though he made some bold decisions, his tenure was full of challenges.

Raghubar Das: The man of bold decisions

With becoming the CM of the Jharkhand , Das defined the course of his term. His dream was to transform Jharkhand into a developed state through good governance and confidence of the people. Das acted fast to build his own set of rules and took some bold decisions.

Jharkhand under Das became the first state to ban SIMI’s offshoot Popular Front of India (PFI). PFI has been responsible for wreaking havoc in the state. By banning PFI in the state, Das not only saved the state from religious radicalisation, but also proved that he will not practice appeasement politics, and he believes in calling spade a spade.

The next hammer was for the mass-scale conversions going on in the state. He brought an anti-conversion bill and ended the menace of conversion spread by missionaries in the state. The practice of luring the tribals and converting them has been prominent in the state. Das also struck a killer blow on church-run organisations and NGOs. Not only this, but in 2018 he also announced that benefits reserved for ST could not be availed by people who had converted.

Raghubar Das- A challenge to Soren

Raghubar Das has leadership skills and the courage to call spade a spade. He is the first in Jharkhand who initiated conversing about growth and development in his speeches rather than tribal and non-tribal rant. During his tenure, he emerged as a champion for the Hindu and tribal way of life. Even after losing the battle to dynast Soren, Das did not rest for a day and has been the voice of the opposition, apt to say the voice of the people of the state.

With the inauguration of these projects crucial for the development of Jharkhand, it has been proven again that providing life with dignity is the duty of the leader, the ones who work towards this, register their name in history. Das in the same manner has evolved from ‘BJP’s non-tribal CM’ to a mass leader in no time.
