The message for Hindus from Ajmer Dargah is loud and clear

Secularism appears to me as the synonym of hypocrisy. It may sound offensive but is it the truth. Why you may ask? Well, the responsibility of secularism seems to solely be on the shoulders of  Hindus. Muslims, Christians, and other religions do not have to act as per secularism, right?  You might be fuming in wrath reading such statements, but stick to the article before coming to any conclusion.

Connection with Kanhaiya Lal Murder and Ajmer Dargah

In what came as a huge shock to the people of India, a few days after the gruesome murder of Kanhaiya Lal, it was revealed that a Khadim of Ajmer Dargah named Gauhar Chishti had met Riyaz (one of the assailants).

Journalist Nikhil Choudhary took to Twitter to inform about what transpired on June 17. He reported that Chishti arrived at Udaipur on the 17th of June to meet Mohammad Riyaz Attari. The visit came after raising provocative slogans of ‘Sar Tan se Juda’ at Ajmer Sharif’s gate.

It is pertinent to note that Riyaz threatened Sharma and her supporters through a video on the same day. Nikhil also informed that Gauhar Chishti was on the run for the last few days. He tweeted that Chishti had asked Riyaz to make the video while killing Kanhaiya Lal. Moreover, Mohammad Riyaz Attari and Gaus Mohammad were going to Ajmer to meet Chishti after killing KanhaiyaLal in Udaipur.

On June 17, Gauharhad raised slogans of Sarr Tann see Juda outside the dargah gate.’

“If someone insults our Prophet, we will not tolerate it. There is only one punishment for blasphemy,” he said while addressing a large mob.

Hate speech against Hindus in Ajmer Dargah

Ever since the statement of Nupur Sharma went viral, the three Khadims of Ajmer Dargah have been found giving provocative statements against the ex-BJP spokesperson and her supporter. Salman Chishti, Khadim of Ajmer Dargah, allegedly gave a provocative statement against suspended BJP leader Nupur Sharma.

Chishti, however, was arrested around 12:45 AM on Wednesday for releasing a video in which he can be heard promising to give away his house to anyone who beheads Nupur Sharma.

Salman Chishti, in the video, said, “I swear by my mother who gave birth to me, I would have shot her publicly. I swear by my children, I would have shot her and even today I say, whoever brings Nupur Sharma’s head, I will give him my house. Salman promises this.”

Ajmer ASP Vikas Sangwan said that the police have adopted a very strict attitude regarding this video. He further added that “Salman Chishti is seen in a drunken state in the video.”

Moreover, an audio call recording of Sarwar Chishti, an Ajmer Dargah Khadim, caught the attention of the public in which he can be heard calling for an economic boycott of Hindus.

In the audio, he says, “Hindus of Nalla Bazar and Dargah Bazar in Ajmer Sharif organized a rally supporting Nupur Sharma. They have called to close the shops till 12 in the noon. I request you all to make these people (Hindus) look miserable. Do this work through our groups of KGN (Khwaja Garib Nawaj).”

“No one should buy anything from their shops in the Dargah Bazar area and the Nalla Bazar area. They earn only through the lovers of the Khwaja Sahab. And see what courage they are attempting, they are closing shops in front of us. They are supporting Nupur Sharma. Spread this word everywhere you can, so that no one transacts a single rupee with them.”

Till now, three Khadims of Ajmer Dargah have given provocative statements against Hindus and have called for action against them. Be it economical or physical, they are threatening Hindus of their life and money.

Impact on business this Eid

The whole controversy has resulted in decline of the number of visitors coming to Ajmer. This has adversely affected business of local vendors and hotels near the Sufi shrine. As per the reports, they have faced a 90 per cent loss in their business this Eid and even hotel bookings were cancelled near the Ajmer Dargah.

The restaurants and transport have only made 10 per cent business, which has also led to the decrement in income of the people. “Earlier our sales were much higher than they are right now. All salesmen here are facing a recession of a kind. People are not coming out as they are scared,” said Dinesh Kumar Soni, a local vendor.

Moreover, the hotels in Dargah Bazaar, Delhi Gate, Diggi Bazaar, and guest houses in Khadim Mohalla, Kammani Gate, Ander Kote and Lakhan Kotri are also witnessing heavy losses, as many people have cancelled their advance hotel bookings.

“We have a hotel. Our sales were good for the past year but since statements and issues in Udaipur cropped up, it is led to a complete loss of sales. All our rooms are currently vacant, those who had booked prior to their arrival have cancelled,” said a hotel owner.

“All shops and vendors are sitting idle. It is these statements that have triggered this. A loss of at least Rs 50 crore is estimated to be witnessed. Forget about private vehicles, even buses are coming here empty,” said President of Dargah Bazar Business Association, Hotch and Srinani.

A message for Hindus

If you dig a bit deeper, you’ll find that the message behind the threats and calls for economic boycott is loud and clear. While Ajmer Dargah has always been projecting itself as the one maintaining peace and harmony among all the religions, Nupur Sharma controversy has revealed that they are Islamists masquerading as god’s men, who only promote peace and love through their culture and religion.

It is said that the tough time reminds you of your strength. Similarly, the adverse situation exposes the type of person you actually are. This is what exactly happened with the Khadims of Ajmer Dargah. Their true colours are revealed and everything is now out in the open. It is time for Hindus to realise that they shouldn’t visit such places and empower the Islamists. It is not the sole responsibility of the Hindus to be secular. Even if what Nupur Sharma said was wrong, the ‘flag bearer of peace’ should have shown kind-heartedness, to move on and call for peace not for beheading.

It is high time people realise that the ‘peace-loving’ minority is not tolerable towards Hindus, and the latter should stop visiting Ajmer Dargah to display their ‘secular’ approach.
