Aam Aadmi Party leader and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is back in the news, being a cry baby of the town. To put it more recently, his childish desires to attend mayors’ meet, evidences his innocent (not literally) aspiration to attend the mayors’ summit.
Cry Baby Delhi CM
Recently, the Delhi CM has been invited to attend the World Cities Summit between 31st July and 3rd August, to present the Delhi model of governance. However, in the wake of grabbing news coverage, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader, has complained for a denied permission for the proposed visit to Singapore. He alleged that the government has denied his clearance to attend the mayors’ summit.
In response, he questioned the government for the restrictions imposed on him, by saying, “I am not a criminal, I am the elected Chief Minister and I am a free citizen of the country. Why am I being stopped? The Government of Singapore has specially called me to present the Delhi model.” In addition, he alleged that there are political reasons which have barred his travel. In addition, Aam Aadmi party MPs protested against the centre in Parliament for delay caused to Kejriwal’s Singapore visit.

The Delhi CM has a long historic tendency of attacking the central authorities, even for their procedural abiding behaviour. It is imperative that attaining any government permission is followed by a structural plan of action.
Considering the delay in permission, it is pertinent to note that it includes a varied procedure for any political clearance. For it, an in-depth investigation is carried out and the host of the dignitary of the summit also gets to be under the loop of scrutiny. Moreover, a long list of considerations are taken into care, including the nature of the event, India’s ties with the host country and other nations participating the meet. Further, if the MEA or the investigation authorities find something suspicion, they can show their disagreement towards the credentials or the intent of the invite.

The suspicious desperate behaviour of Kejriwal
Evaluating the AAP leader’s desire to attend the Singapore summit, the Delhi BJP MPs, Manoj Tiwari and Parvesh Verma, suspected Kejriwal for his desperation towards the mayors’ summit. BJP MP Parvesh Verma observed that the programme in Singapore had nothing to do for Kejriwal, as he does not have any department matching the subject of the event.
In response, Kejriwal remarked that he has been specifically invited by the respective country’s government to present the Delhi model and glorify India in front of the world leaders.
This clears the fog around the hard efforts of the Delhi CM to cumulate a bunch of empathizers as pillars to support him, however that is unlikely to happen. Kejriwal has a long historic legacy of attacking the BJP government. The same was regarded by the Delhi BJP president Adesh Gupta, by saying that it was Kejriwal who in the year 2020 didn’t have time to summit the mayors of Delhi, who sat outside his residence with a demand to release the dues of municipal corporations.
Kejriwal’s desire of becoming a mayor
Arvind Kejriwal is supposed to govern the city of Delhi as its CM. However, in reality, he portrays himself as a mere mayor, which is to an extent apparent with his ‘clerical works’.
As earlier reported by TFI in March 2022, Kejriwal announced that he will quit politics if the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections is held and BJP won it. This had already outspoken the special attachment of Kejriwal with the mayor chair, which he apparently wants to overtake.
Kejriwal’s recurrent attempts to prefix his name with the title of mayor, leads us to the question that has Kejriwal finally accepted that he is just a ‘glorified mayor’?
