Taj: The witness of Mumbai’s night of terror

It costs a lot in order to bring alive the essence of Tajness, and Taj paid the cost as it faced the wrath of the Islamist terrorists who wreaked havoc in the city for 3 long days.  After blowing Nariman house and firing at the Chatrapati Shivajji terminus, the terrorists stormed the Taj Mahal Palace and Tower Hotel. Bombs were set off under the central dome, setting off a massive fire that later raged through the top floors of the Taj. Later, the hotel was secured by the NSG, as the elite force launched Operation Black Torando.

Not only the forces, but the employees served a crucial role in saving lives at Mumbai’s landmark Taj Hotel, and this defines the legacy owned by the Taj and reason behind it being the best. The culture of Taj is such that the selfless response of the employees is a case study at the Harvard Business School that focuses on how the employees went beyond their call of duty to save lives.
