OIC nations were trying to turn Nupur Sharma episode into an international talking point, India punctured their narrative

Every country has its own sets fop internal differences. India has them too. That does not mean we allow it to become an international talking point. Recently OIC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation) nations tried to turn the Nupur Sharma episode into one. An alert India punctured the initiative.

OIC interferes in India’s domestic affairs

Recently, Nupur Sharma was suspended for her remark going against BJP’s line. Apparently, the very fact that the remark had to do anything with Islam forced the Islamic nations to jump onto the issue. Other than Gulf Cooperation Council, one more organization named OIC decided to use the opportunity to ramp itself up as the protector of the Islamic world.

In its statement criticizing India, OIC went all gung ho as if there is no tomorrow. Looping in every controversy related to Indian Muslims, including the recent Hijab Controversy, and Bulldozer demolition among others, OIC said, “These abuses come in the context of the escalation of hatred and abuse of Islam in India and in the context of the systematic practices against Muslims and restrictions on them, especially in light of a series of decisions banning headscarves in educational institutions in a number of Indian states and demolitions of Muslim property, in addition to the increase in violence against them”

It also appealed to the United Nations to address what it termed “The practices targeting Muslims in India”

India’s rebuttal to OIC

Meanwhile, India which has chided OIC on numerous occasions in the past decided not to take unsolicited  lecture from the organisation. Ministry of External Affairs literally schooled the OIC about the issue at hand. In the official rebuttal, MEA called OIC’s comments ‘unwarranted and narrow-minded’

MEA then went on to state that OIC is following a decisive agenda contributing to its communal approach. “It is regrettable that OIC Secretariat has yet again chosen to make motivated, misleading and mischievous comments. This only exposes its divisive agenda being pursued at the behest of vested interests. We would urge the OIC Secretariat to stop pursuing its communal approach and show due respect to all faiths and religions.” MEA added.

Pakistan also jumps onto the bandwagon

Another OIC member, Pakistan individually decided to interfere in India’s internal issue. Pakistani PM took to Twitter to pass on his ‘advisory’ of reprimanding India. In what seemed to be a call for violence, Shehbaz wrote, “Our love for the Holy Prophet (PBUH) is supreme. All Muslims can sacrifice their life for the Love & Respect of their Holy Prophet (PBUH).”

India then retorted in its own fierce tone. In just a 106 words statement, India reminded Pakistan about its record on Minority suppression. MEA termed Pakistan as a serial violator of minority rights. Substantiating its comment on the status of minorities in Pakistan, the MEA statement read “The absurdity of a serial violator of minority rights commenting on the treatment of minorities in another nation is not lost on anyone. The world has been witness to the systemic persecution of minorities including Hindus, Sikhs, Christians and Ahmadiyyas by Pakistan. The Government of India accords the highest respect to all religions. This is quite unlike Pakistan where fanatics are eulogized and monuments built in their honour.”

OIC needs to focus on internal matter

The world does not understand the power of argument but the argument of power. Until and unless the bullies are not shown the real status of their existence, they continue to bark unnecessarily. The organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), a bully organization created for the promotion of global Jihad in the name of the Muslim brotherhood, has always tried to challenge the sovereign authority of India by interfering in its internal affairs.

The only asset these countries have is that their exports comprise a large section of the world’s energy requirement. But, countries all around the world are shifting towards green energy. If they do not improve and work on their own internal affairs, they are destined for doom.
