It is said that fear is our greatest enemy. Fear makes a person go insane. It can drive a person to take frantic decisions that will prove harmful to him in the long run. This also holds true for politicians. As in Politics, while a real leader helps develop a bunch of other capable young talents under him, a shallow power-hungry one fears all the upcoming talent from within the party or from outside. The same seems to have happened in Bihar.
Expulsions from JDU
The Janata Dal (United) has taken disciplinary actions against its party leaders. It has snatched the primary membership of four persons. This includes State general secretary Anil Kumar and Vipin Kumar Yadav along with spokesperson Ajay Alok and Party leader Jitendra Neeraj.
They have also been relieved from all party posts. As per an ANI report, the Bihar JDU chief, Umesh Singh Kushwaha, apprised information about the same and termed it as a “step to strengthen the party and maintain discipline”.
He informed reporters, “Party’s state general secretaries Anil Kumar and Vipin Yadav and spokesperson Ajay Alok are relieved of their posts and suspended from party’s primary membership. Party leader Jitendra Neeraj is also being suspended from the primary membership of the party. This decision has been taken to strengthen the party and maintain discipline in the party”.

As per the party’s claim, these leaders have been suspended for indulging in anti-party activities. The statement issued by the JDU party said “For the last few months, there were complaints about running programmes against the interests of the party and misleading the workers. Some office-bearers were asked to refrain from such actions, but despite this, anti-party activities continued”.
Ajay Alok gave his response on this action and termed it as a late call, one which was long due. He showed gratitude towards the party and remembered his long association with it. He said, “Badi der kar di meharbani karne mein. I am grateful to the party for giving me relief. It was a long association with the party and a great experience. My best wishes to you.”

What is the connection between this action and RCP Singh?
Many political analysts are reading it as a direct consequence of these leaders being close aides of Union Minister RCP Singh. RCP Singh was seen as a close confidant of Bihar CM Nitish Kumar for a very long time . Singh also comes from the Kurmi caste. Some reports back then even claimed him to be his likely successor. But, off late the image of the CM has taken a huge hit.
In the peak hours of election he had to make a sympathetic appeal to the voters. He claimed the Bihar assembly election as his last and pleaded them to vote on that plank which is nothing but playing the sympathy card.

Seeing the reports that RCP Singh has a strong hold within the JDU and alliance partner BJP, Nitish left no chance to cut him to size. Evidently, RCP Singh is the lone representative of the party in the current administration.
Still JDU refused to send RCP Singh to Rajya Sabha. With this Nitish has made it clear that he no longer trusts his former confidant and wants him out from the circles of power.
Possibilities on the card?
Insecurity is driving Nitish Kumar to weaken his own party roots and expelling a lot of talented leaders from the party. The recent decision is just one example of a continuous insecure policy of Shushashan Babu.
Nitish Kumar seems to have become blind to the extent of establishing his monopoly on the party. For that he is not hesitating to rope in outsiders for the important posts of the party. Kushwaha of RLSP is the best example of this. Apart from this, Nitish has started taking autocratic decisions. Therefore, chances of rebellion are high within the party.

But as they say few politicians in India can shamelessly pivot in any direction in the name of fighting for a secular cause and they can cut both ways. For power they can stitch an alliance with the BJP on the bugle of Nationalism.
Interestingly, it is far easier and convenient for them to oppose the BJP and create an alliance with the other opposition party. They just need to cry secularism loudly. So, it is even possible that the “U-turn” CM can move forward with RJD playing the victim card while accusing the BJP of breaking his party.
By whichever way the CM tries to soothe his hunger for power and work on insecurity, the people of Bihar are seeing through all of it. The voices for the CM to take an honourable exit and retire are also on the cards.
So brace yourselves, for there may be a lot of political actions and counter actions happening in Bihar in the recent future.
